分享:The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel A. van der Kolk

Amazon Best Sellers of 2019 in Books #25,定格日期:2019年7月22日。

Bessel van der Kolk, a psychiatrist well known for his work on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), has written once again on the origins and consequences of trauma. Using research and examples from his own practice,The Body Keeps The Score is his latest brilliant synthesis of contemporary thinking about the impact of trauma on the body and mind - drawing research and experience from his own clinic, neuroscience, psychiatry, history, and thinking from the fields of psychotherapy and psychology.

Looking at physiological changes as a symptom and reflection of trauma, he describes how body posture, breathing, movement, and position during therapy should be viewed as a rich source of information for patients and clinicians. The suggested pathways to recovery in the book are varied, but suggestive of anything that includes more than talking alone: theatre work, EMDR, yoga and biofeedback included. Many of his clinical vignettes are very inspiring in their depth of healing.

It’s worth considering this if you are seeking treatment. The body stores trauma even more reliably than the mind - as the title of the book suggests. While memories can get broken up and confused, the body records the threat or threats it originally experienced, replaying it again and again until healing is achieved.

Much of the book is devoted to discussing treatment options. Yet once again, the material is dense and may be challenging for lay readers.if you are a therapist seeing clients diagnosed with PTSD or who have experienced trauma and would like to understand how the brain behaves in those circumstances or if you have a keen interest in neuroscience and its developments then the book is likely to interest you.
