日本高中'生命课'引争议

For the past 60 years, every generation of freshman students at Izumo Agricultural and Forestry High School, in Izumo, Japan's Shimane prefecture, has taken the "Class of Life", a controversial six-month course during which the students help hatch and raise chickens, before having to slaughter and eat them. 

过去60年来，日本岛根县出云市的出云农林高中的每一届新生都要上一门"生命课"。在这门充满争议的为期六个月的课程中，学生们将帮忙孵出小鸡、把鸡养大，然后亲手宰杀并吃掉它们。

While some praised the course, claiming that it teaches students that life itself can be cruel, and that the best way to show your respect for food is to eat and not waste it, others called it unnecessary and possibly traumatic for the students. 

有些人称赞这门课，称它教给学生这样的道理：生命本身可能是残忍的，而尊重食物最好的方式就是好好吃掉不浪费；另一些人则表示这种课程没有必要并可能给学生的心理留下创伤。

Japanese film director Tatsuya Mori, the author of a book called "How to Eat Life", believes that anyone who consumes fish and meat should take the Class of Life at least once in their life. 

《如何吃掉生命》一书的作者、日本电影导演森达也认为，任何吃鱼和肉的人一生中至少要上一次生命课。

If they are not comfortable doing so, perhaps they should become vegetarians.

如果他们觉得这么做不舒服，也许他们应该做素食者。

Trump misspells wife's name
特朗普发推拼错爱妻名

US President Trump misspelled First Lady Melania's name as "Melanie" in a tweet Saturday, welcoming her back to the White House after a spell in the hospital for a kidney procedure.

19日，美国总统特朗普发推欢迎第一夫人梅拉尼娅返回白宫，却将夫人名字"Melania"错拼成"Melanie"。此前梅拉尼娅住院接受了肾脏手术。

"Great to have our incredible First Lady back home in the White House. Melanie is feeling and doing really well. 

特朗普在推特上发文写道："我们的第一夫人回到白宫真是太好了。Melanie感觉不错，恢复得很好。

Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes!" Trump wrote before the tweet was swiftly deleted and replaced.

Though the misspelling was quickly corrected to Melania, Twitter was exploding with hilarious reactions over the slip-up.

It was announced that Melania, 48, is continuing her recovery from the comfort of home after undergoing a successful procedure to treat what the White House described as a "benign kidney condition".

白宫称，现年48岁的梅拉尼娅所患的肾病是良性的，手术很成功，她已回到家中继续休养康复。

Hawaii bans sunscreens
夏威夷立法禁用防晒霜

In an effort to save its at-risk coral reefs, Hawaii has become the first state in the US to pass a law banning specific sunscreen products. 

为拯救夏威夷濒危的珊瑚礁，夏威夷州成为美国首个立法禁止使用特定防晒产品的州。

The new law prohibits the sale and distribution of sunscreens containing the chemicals oxybenzone and octinoxate . 

这项新法令禁止销售和分销含有氧苯酮和桂皮酸盐的防晒霜。

Scientists have found that these chemicals, when washed off the skin and into the ocean, can cause coral bleaching. 
科学家发现当这些化学物质从人们的皮肤上被冲洗到海水中时，会导致珊瑚白化。

The proposed ban fairly exhaustively "includes but is not limited to lotion, paste, balm, ointment, cream, solid stick applicator, brush applicator, roll-on applicator, aerosol spray, non-aerosol spray pump, and automated and manual mist spray."

Sunscreen is not the only factor putting reefs at risk; scientists have shown CO2 emissions and ocean temperatures also affect the ecosystems.

1st Hunan robot chef 
机器人掌勺烹饪湘菜

Standardized Hunan cuisine robot chefs, the first of their kind, started cooking local dishes at a restaurant in Changsha, Hunan. 

全球首批标准化湘菜炒菜机器人近日在湖南长沙的一家湘菜馆正式开炒。

The robots, which store recipes and cooking techniques for 40 kinds of Hunan cuisine, could complete cooking capsicum fried meat in two minutes. 

这些机器人的数据库中存储了40道湘菜的食谱和烹调技术，两分钟内就能炒出一盘辣椒炒肉。

"In Changsha, restaurants whose sizes are similar to ours have to hire eight to 10 cooks and kitchen helpers. While in our restaurant, we only need two kitchen helpers to aid three robot chefs," said Li Zhiming, inventor of the robots and owner of the restaurant. 

机器人发明者、饭店老板李志明表示，在长沙，规模和他们类似的饭馆，后厨必须雇佣8到10名厨师和小工，而在他们店，只需要两个小工辅助三台炒菜机器人就能满足饭店需求。

"We want our customers to enjoy not only the dishes, but also the technically standardized robot cooking," Li said. With standardized robot chefs, Li hopes that Hunan cuisine robot restaurants can open worldwide, like KFC and McDonalds, in the future.

李志明说，他希望顾客享受的不仅是菜肴，还有高技术标准化的机器人烹调过程。通过标准化炒菜机器人，李志明希望在未来能把机器人湘菜馆开遍全球，就像肯德基和麦当劳一样。
