Sydney Smith is a children's book author and illustrator from Halifax, Canada. His illustrated works include Town Is by the Sea, Sidewalk Flowers, and I Talk Like a River. His first book written and illustrated by himself called Small in the City is shortlisted for the 2021 CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal. In our conversation together, Sydney talked about his relationship with cities, how coming back home to Halifax from Toronto has influenced his creative work, and more.
