Harry the elephant was getting ready for bed with his friends, Lulu and Ted.

小象哈利已经和他的朋友噜噜、泰德做好了上床睡觉的准备。

“Goodnight,everyone,” said Harry.  “Zzz,” went Lulu. “Snore,” went Ted. Harry lay waiting. But sleep didn’t come.

“晚安，各位。”哈利说。噜噜和泰德都已经打起呼噜了。哈利躺了一会，但是睡意并没有到来。

“I forgot my bedtime story,” thought Harry. He opened his books. He looked at the pictures. He looked at the words. His eyes grew heavy. He snuggled down again. “I’m waiting,” he said. But sleep didn’t come to Harry.

“我忘记我的睡前故事了。”哈利想。他打开他的书。他看了看图片，又看了看文字。他的眼睛越来越沉了。他又舒服地蜷伏起来，“我再等等。”他说。可是睡意还是没有到来。

“Perhaps I’m not really tired,” thought Harry. He hung up his clothes. He tidied his room. He ran on the spot. He touched his toes. He hopped on one foot. He jumped up and down.

“也许我是真的不累。”哈利想。他把他的衣服挂起来。他整理他的房间。他在地上跑来跑去。他摸摸他的脚趾。他跳起一只脚。他跳起来又落下。

Then Harry got back into bed. “Zzz,”went Lulu. “Snore,” went Ted. “I’m waiting,” said Harry. But nothing happened.

然后哈利又回到床上。小伙伴们打着呼噜。“我再等等。”哈利说。但是什么也没有发生。

“Perhaps I’m not really comfy,” thought Harry. He stretched out one way. He stretched out the other. He lay on his tummy. He lay on his back. He closed his eyes tight. “Zzz,” went Lulu. “Snore,” went Ted. “I’m still awake,” sighed Harry.

“也许我是真的不舒服。”哈利想。他向一边伸了伸。他又向另一边伸了伸。他把他的肚子朝上。他又把他的背朝上。他紧紧地闭上眼睛。小伙伴们都在打呼噜。“我仍然醒着。”哈利叹了口气。

Then Harry began to worry. He worried and worried. He just couldn’t stop. He thought of tomorrow. He thought of today. He thought about nothing. He thought about lots. He wriggled and squiggled. He rolled in a ball...and he took all the blankets.

然后哈利开始担心。他非常非常担心。他不能停下来。他想着明天。他想着今天。他什么都不想。他又想了许多。他动来动去扭来扭去。他卷成了一个球，把所有的毯子都拖走了。

“Hey!” said Lulu, waking up with a start. Wake up with a start. “Harry, what are you doing?” said Ted. “I can’t get to sleep,” said Harry sadly.

“嘿！”噜噜很快醒来了。“哈利，你在做什么呢？”泰德说。“我睡不着。”哈利难过地说。小伙伴们都被小哈利吵醒了。

Harry looked out of the window. He rubbed his tired eyes. “What if sleep never ever comes at all?” he said. “Never mind,Harry,” said Lulu. “We’re here, Harry,” said Ted.

哈利看着窗外。他擦了擦他疲劳的眼睛。“如果我再也睡不着了会怎么样？”他说。“别担心，哈利。”噜噜说。“我们在这，哈利。”泰德说。

The three little friends sat close together. They looked at the world outside. Lulu sang a song to the moon. Ted counted the bright evening stars. They heard an owl hoot. Petals fell in the breeze. They felt the dew of the night.

三个小伙伴坐在一起。他们一起看着外面的世界。噜噜向着月亮唱着歌。泰德数着明亮的夜星。他们听着猫头鹰的叫声。花瓣在微风中落下。他们感觉到夜晚的露水。

Harry snuggled up with Lulu and Ted. His eyes felt heavy. He gave a big yawn. “Goodnight,Harry,” said Lulu. “Sweet dreams, Harry,” said Ted. But Harry was fast asleep, and “snuffle” was all he said.

哈利依偎着噜噜和泰德。他的眼睛越来越沉。他打了一个大哈欠。“晚安，哈利。”噜噜说。”祝美梦，哈利。”泰德说。哈利还没来得及说晚安，就依偎着他们睡着了。
