After all,i sincerely hope you will like my programme!Well,have you ever heard about a well-known campaign called He For She?If you are fan of Emma Watson,maybe you did.Ok now,I’m to share the brilliant lecture of advocating for the campaign given by Emma in the United Nations with you. And the following extract is what i thought to be the most impressive of the lecture.You ready?Let’s give it a shot!

Men—I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation.Equality is your issue,too.Because to date,I’ve seen my father’s role as a parent being less valued by society despite my needing his presence as a child as much as my mother’s.I’ve seen many young man suffering from mental illness unable to ask for help for fear it would make them less of man or less of a man.In fact in the U.K.suicide is the biggest killer of men between 20 to 49 eclipsing road accidents,cancer and coronary heart disease[冠心病].I’ve seen man made fragile and insecured by a distorted[adj.扭曲的] sense of what constitutes male success.Men don’t have the benefits of equlity,either.We don’t often talk about men being imprisoned by gender sterotypes[adj.固定形式] but I can see that they are and that when they are free,things will change for woman as a natural consequese.If man don’t have to be aggressive in order to be accepted,woman won’t be compelled to be submissive[adj.顺从的].If man don’t have to control,woman don’t have to be controlled.

2014年9月20日，艾玛沃特森在纽约召开的联合国He For She运动发布会发表10分钟讲话：倡导女性女权解放。对于从小活跃在银幕中受到万千瞩目的艾玛沃特森，女权主义倡导者这个标签为她带来欣赏肯定的同时，也惹来了铺天盖地的批评与谩骂。正如她所说：一直以来，女权主义便不是一个受欢迎的字眼，而倡导女权主义的女性更是被认为是偏激的，具有攻击性的，不具备传统女性所具有的柔和的特性。但既然选择了这条路，艾玛便是义无反顾，甚至为了专注于女权主义，她宣布暂别影坛一年。可见，女权主义对她来说，不是一句空喊的口号，而是她愿意付出一生并为之坚持与奋斗的事业。

在这篇演讲中，让我耳目一新的不是她对确定女性在社会上的平等地位的极力宣传，而是她对性别平等的二次定义：她没有一味的为女性伸冤抱不平，反而，在她看来，如今社会对女性的偏见正是来源于社会对男性的偏见，因为男性必须强大，所以女性必须柔弱；因为男性必须无所不能，所以女性无才便是德。这个社会将太多重担压在了男人身上，那么，女人在社会上的地位也就可想而知了。

由于这篇文章是正式的演讲稿，所以它的很多语法表达都是十分official的。对于那些在演讲稿写作上举步维艰的盆友们，今天我们就可以来好好研究英语演讲稿的写作奥秘咯~

首先，我们来关注文章的第一句话，I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation.意思是我想要利用这次机会诚挚的邀请您的加入。这里的extend除了有我们平常所熟知的扩大延伸的意思，也有发出（邀请，欢迎等）的意思，在正式的演讲稿中，比起直接使用invite，extend one’s invitation会更加正式，更加真诚。

接下来，我们来着重看一下两个单词。

eclipse n.消失，黯然失色；[天]（日，月）食

1. Jane did not want to be ruled by anyone and it’s notable that she never allowed the men in her life to eclipse her.

简不想受任何人支配，而且很明显她从不容许自己生活中里的男人光芒盖过自己。

（这里的eclipse具有文学性，它作为动词，是使…黯然失色的意思）

2. The solar eclipse was thought to be a sign of the fall of the country in the past.

日蚀在过去常常被认为是国家灭亡的预兆。

compel v.强迫；强制发生；使不得不变形词：compelling adj.令人折服的；扣人心弦的；不可抗拒的

（compel和force在用法上几乎没有什么区别，一般情况下，两者可以互相转换）

1． The law can compel fathers to make regular payments for their children.

这项法律强迫父亲应当支付子女的日常费用。

2. His cleverness and skill compel our admiration.

他的智慧和技巧使我们都很倾佩。

As a matter of fact,i have been keeping my eyes on some hot issues about fighting for woman’s right before getting to know about He For She.And I have found that when mentioning “equlity”“right”or“feminism”,some people would think nothing of it for these stuff are seemed to outside their life.However,that’s totally nonsense.If you ever become a attentative person,then you will be astonished by the things around you such as the critical judgment of society towards woman with high-rank or the persistent stupid ideas of gaining more respect to raise boys than girls in the countryside,let alone accountable rape cases happened on poor women.

Certainly i’m sure that this kind of thing can’t be stopped in the short term even though we are involved in it and that not everyone can be as great and powerful as Emma.But things maybe change a little bit if we don’t tend to be blind when they are happening right in front of us.

呃…今天的主题好像有点凝重了呢，那我们来转换一下心情吧！大家应该都有关注迪斯尼电影，我记得，灰姑娘，贝尔公主，睡美人可是我的童年呢。我相信，每个女孩子的心中应该都有一个princess dream，也都住着一位可以为自己上刀山下火海的prince。而在过去，迪斯尼系列公主也确实都有着统一的特性：善良，柔弱，还有就是，very lucky…不是在森林里随口哼了首歌就惹来王子的一见钟情，就是睡着睡着莫名地就被王子吻醒了。我们应该看到，这种设计理念正体现了过去对女性的统一看法：女性永远是那个需要被保护的对象。

其实啊，解放女权争取性别平等一直是全人类的共同事业，早在19世纪，英国就出现了一位独立，前卫的女作家，她因写了一本关于女性独立的经典著作而名声大噪，这本书便是——《傲慢与偏见》。

Pride And Judgment,written by Jane Austen,was a love story based upon the conservative life state of British towns during 18 and 19 centuries.In the story, the five daughters in Bennet family differ from one another in the perception about love and marriage.Of the five girls,Elizabeth is most clever and independent who is reluctant to be compelled to get married by anyone.Such a thoughtful and pride woman was so lucky to have a happy ending with a man whom she thought to be arrogant at first but later find out to be respectful and also kind-hearted.

Unlike other traditional love stories, women from this fiction no longer stand still to wait for being chosen but go and pick their spouses by themselves.As a female,maybe Jane Austen would like to convey that woman and man should share the same right to choose lover,job or lifestyle,besides,it’s themselves rather than anyone else that could define who they are.

或许在歧视女性现象颇为严重的当时，简奥斯丁并未得到尊重和认可，但在200多年后的今天，重温这部经典，我们仍会惊叹，在那个闭塞保守的年代，这位小妇人能够站出来为女性发声，是需要多么大的勇气和底气啊！

节目的最后就让我们一起欣赏一下这本书中一个十分经典的片段，就是女主Elizabeth在一个阴沉的雨天拒绝了男主Darcy的求婚……

Darcy:I came to rosings with the single object of seeing you...I had to see you.

Elizabeth:Me?

Darcy:I’ve fought against my better judgement,my family’s expectation...(pause)the inferiority[n.下等] of your birth...my rank and circumstance...all those things...but i’m willing to put them aside...and ask you to end my agony[n.苦恼]...

Elizabeth:I don’t understand...

Darcy:I love you,most ardently...Please do me the honour of accepting my hand.

Elizabeth:(voice shaking) Sir,i appreciate the struggle you have been through and i am very sorry to have caused you pain.Believe me,it was unconsciously done.

Darcy:Is this your reply?

Elizabeth:Yes,sir.

Darcy:Are you laughing at me?

Elizabeth:No!

Darcy:Are you rejecting me?

Elizabeth:I’m sure that the feelings which,as you’ve told me,have hindered[v.阻碍]your regard,will help you in overcoming it.

Darcy:Might I ask why,with so little endeavor[n.尝试] at civility[n.礼貌],i am thus repulsed[v.拒绝]?

Elizabeth:(trembling with emotion)I might as well enquire why,with so evident a design of insulting me,you chose to tell me that you liked me against your better judgement.If i was uncivil,that was some excuse.
