及时行乐

We convince ourselves

that life will be better

after we get married, 

have a baby, then another. 

我们总是认为等我们结了婚，

生了孩子后，生活会更美满。

Then we are frustrated that 

the kids aren’t old enough 

and we’ll be more content

when they are. 

可等有了孩子，

我们又因为他们太小而惆怅，

并认为等他们长大些懂事了，

我们的生活会更舒适。

After that we’re frustrated that

we have teenagers to deal with. 

We will certainly be happy

when they are out of that stage. 

可随后等他们步入青春期，

我们还要为应付他们的青春期问题而烦恼。

心想等熬过这个非常时期，

幸福就会大驾光临。

We tell ourselves that

our life will be complete

when our spouse gets his

or her act together,

我们常常自我安慰，

等我们的另一半可以与我们

同心协力，

when we get a nicer car,

when we are able to go on

a nice vacation,

when we retire.

等我们坐拥更高档的轿车，

等我们能够怡然度过一个

惬意的假期，

等我们退休之后，

我们的人生就功德圆满了！

The truth is,

there’s no better time to be happy

than right now.

然而事实却是，

没有比此时此刻更幸福的瞬间了。

Your life will always

be filled with challenges.

It’s best to admit this to yourself

and decide to be happy anyway. 

生活总是充满挑战。

你最好接受这一事实，

毕竟无论如何都要选择快乐地生活。

One of my favorite quotes

comes from Alfred D Souza.

He said,

it had seemed to me that

some obstacles in the way.

until you finish school,

until you go back to school;

until you lose ten pounds,

until you gain ten pounds;

until you have kids,

until your kids leave the house;

until you start work,
