Severe flooding in several countries tops our international headlines. Northwestern England is recovering from the worst flooding it’s seen in 40 years. FIood warnings remain in eftect throughout the UK. A similar Scene in Brazil, where torrential rains have lashed Sio Paulo causing deadly landslides. And a national emergency has been declared in Costa Rica, where heavy rainfall has displaced thousands of people along the Atlantic coast.

Firefighters in South Australia continue to battle the most deadly wildfire to ravage the country in more than 20 years. At least nine people have been killed by the fire, which has burned through hundreds of thousands of acres since Monday. It was just like a fire storm of whirling winds of flames that just came through, and things just started bursting into flames around. Fueled by strong winds and temperatures in excess of 111 degrees Fahrenheit, the fire has forced many residents to flee their homes. In Canada, officials have announced the second case of mad cow disease in less than a month. They say the discovery was made during a stepped-up testing program, and the case poses no danger to consumers. The carcass is under CFIA control and once again no part of this animal entered either the human or animal food chain.
