Digital economy reaches 39.2t yuan
我国数字经济规模达39.2万亿元

China's digital economy grew to 39.2 trillion yuan in 2020, accounting for 38.6% of the country's total GDP and up 9.7% year-on-year, according to a report. The report on development of the internet in China was released by the Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies at the World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit, which opened Sunday in East China's Zhejiang province. 
9月26日，2021年世界互联网大会乌镇峰会在浙江乌镇开幕。中国网络空间研究院在会上发布《世界互联网发展报告2021》和《中国互联网发展报告2021》蓝皮书。《中国互联网发展报告2021》指出，2020年中国数字经济规模达到39.2万亿元，占GDP比重达38.6%，保持9.7%的高位增长速度。

In 2020, the volume of e-commerce transactions recorded in China reached 37.21 trillion yuan, up 4.5% from 2019, while the operating income of the e-commerce service sector reached 5.45 trillion yuan, an increase of 21.9% year-on-year, according to the report. The digital economy has become a key option for countries around the world seeking to hedge against the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and to speed up economic and social transformation, said a report on global internet development also released on Sunday, adding that new information infrastructure has gradually become a new driving force for global economic growth.
2020年，中国电子商务交易额达到37.21万亿元，同比增长4.5%；电子商务服务业营业收入规模达到5.45万亿元，同比增长21.9%。《世界互联网发展报告2021》指出，数字经济成为世界各国应对新冠肺炎疫情冲击、加快经济社会转型的重要选择。新型信息基础设施逐步成为全球经济增长的新动能。

The Global Development Initiative has charted the course for advancing global development and international development cooperation, said Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, calling for taking the opportunity of implementing the initiative to further deepen global cooperation. He made the remarks in a speech at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Sustainable Development Forum in Beijing on Sunday via video link. 
9月26日，国务委员兼外长王毅以视频方式出席在北京召开的2021年可持续发展论坛开幕式并发表主旨演讲。他表示，"全球发展倡议"为各国发展和国际发展合作擘画了蓝图。中方呼吁以落实"全球发展倡议"为契机，推动国际发展事业向前迈进。

As the largest developing country, China has always helped other developing countries and actively promoted South-South Cooperation, providing development assistance to more than 160 developing countries, according to Wang. Talking about China's contributions to the global fight against COVID-19, Wang said that China has provided more than 1.25 billion doses of vaccines to the world, and will provide 2 billion throughout this year. In addition to donating $100 million to COVAX, China will donate 100 million additional doses of vaccines to other developing countries.

2021 retail sales to hit 44t yuan

China's retail sales of consumer goods are expected to hit 44 trillion yuan in 2021, an official said Sunday. The estimated figure will represent an increase of about 12.5% from last year and 8% from 2019, said Wang Bin, an official from the Ministry of Commerce, at a press conference. 
商务部消费促进司副司长王斌9月26日在记者会上表示，预计全年社会消费品零售总额有望达到44万亿元，比2020年增长12.5%左右，比2019年增长8%左右。

Considering the growth month-by-month in the second half of 2020, the year-on-year growth trend of consumption will be "low-after-high" throughout this year, Wang said, adding that the country's consumption will continue its steady recovery in the fourth quarter. The latest data shows that China's retail sales of consumer goods went up 2.5% year-on-year, to around 3.44 trillion yuan in August, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
王斌分析，去年下半年消费逐月回升，所以今年下半年以来同比增速有所回落，总体会呈现前高后低格局，但整个四季度消费仍将延续平稳恢复态势。国家统计局最新数据显示，8月份社会消费品零售总额约3.44万亿元，同比增长2.5%。

EU to force USB-C chargers for all phones
欧盟将强制统一手机充电接口

Manufacturers will be forced to create a universal charging solution for phones and small electronic devices, under a new rule proposed by the European Commission (EC). The aim is to reduce waste by encouraging consumers to re-use existing chargers when buying a new device. All smartphones sold in the EU must have USB-C chargers, the proposal said. 
根据欧盟委员会(EC)提出的新规，制造商将被迫为手机和小型电子设备提供通用充电解决方案。其目的是通过鼓励消费者在购买新设备时重复使用现有充电设备来减少浪费。该提案称，在欧盟销售的所有智能手机都必须配备USB-C充电器。

Apple has warned that such a move would harm innovation. "We remain concerned that strict regulation mandating just one type of connector stifles innovation rather than encouraging it, which in turn will harm consumers in Europe and around the world," the firm told the BBC.
苹果公司警告，此举将遏制创新。苹果公司告诉英国广播公司："我们坚持认为，严格规定只能使用一种连接线会扼杀创新，而不是鼓励创新，这反而会损害欧洲和世界各地消费者的利益。"
