A century ago women were forbidden the franchise, could not sit on a jury or be admitted into the professions. Today, I am proud to serve as Britain’s second female prime minister in a Parliament with more female MPs than ever before.
100年以前，英国女人被明令禁止参加选举投票，她们无法加入陪审团，也无法踏入专业政治领域，时至今日，我有幸成为英国史上第二任女首相，对此我深感自豪。如今，英国议会中的女性议员人数之多，更是前所未有。

In 2018, the United Kingdom’s most senior judge is a woman. The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police is a woman. The Director of the National Crime Agency is a woman. Women serve as England’s Chief Fire Officer and Chief Medical Officer. The CBI and the TUC are both headed by women. 
2018年，英国最高法院资历最深的大法官是一位女性，伦敦大都会警察局局长是一位女性，应该国家犯罪调查局总干事是一位女性，英格兰消防处总长和首席医疗总监是女性，英国工业联合会和英国劳工联合会都有女性领导。

At Holyrood, a female First Minister debates against a female opposition leader. In the National Assembly for Wales, a woman leads the third party. The two largest parties in Northern Ireland are led by women. 
在爱丁堡的荷里路德，苏格兰首席大臣与反对党领袖，两位女性展开唇枪舌剑的激辩较量。在威尔士国民议会，一位女性领导着第三方党派—威尔士党，北爱尔兰的两个最大党派的领袖党魁，皆为女性。
