M:In the States, we have used paper plates and cups for years, because we’re concerned about the growing pollution problem.

M:Where are you going, Catherine? Today is Saturday.

W:Saturday isn’t a holiday for me anymore. I have to tutor for three hours every Saturday afternoon.

M:That’s great. I wish I could find a part-time job to make a little pocket money. How did you find this job?

W:I saw a “Tutor Wanted” notice stuck on a light pole near the bus stop. I phoned the number and I got the job. It’s not too hard to find a part-time job these days. But Mike, study should always come first. Do you think that you have enough time to do a part-time job?

M:It’s hard to say. If I can get a job, it will be very hard to make good use of my time.

W:Your spoken English is perfect.Why don’t you find a job of teaching English?

M:But I don’t have any teaching experience. Speaking and teaching are two different things.

W:I don’t have any experience either. We’re just students. People know this. But we are young and energetic.

W:You can post some notices on the community bulletin board or other places. But remember, don’t post them on the light pole because you’ll probably be fined.

Ana Maria Cavazos was born on June 8th, 1908, in Reynosa, Mexico. She was the eleventh of twelve children.

Her father, Jesus Cavazos, was originally from Victoria, Texas, but his family moved to Mexico around 1855.

Ana’s mother, Juana Castro, was the oldest of six . Juana and Jesus married in  1880. Ana’s family came to the United States during the Mexican Revolution in 1913. Their family experienced much hardship. Ana grew up in Texas and met her future husband in 1929. Ana and Abel Contreras married in 1931 and were the parents of eleven children.
