Of course, for many, this time of year will be tinged with sadness: some mourning the loss of those dear to them, and others missing friends and family-members distanced for safety, when all they'd really want for Christmas is a simple hug or a squeeze of the hand. If you are among them, you are not alone, and let me assure you of my thoughts and prayers.

1. tinge n. a very small amount of a color, emotion or quality 一抹淡色

to add a small amount of colour to sth  v. 

eg: The light of the setting sun tinged the building with delicate colours. 

2. Mourn v. 凭吊或哀痛 to feel very sad and to miss someone after they have died.

3.a squeeze of the hand 紧握双手

squeeze v. /n. If you squeeze something, you press it firmly, usually with your hands.
