King Rollo and the New Stockings 国王Rollo的新袜子

"I'll wear my new stockings,"said King Rollo.

“我要穿我的新袜子，”国王Rollo说，

"The red ones or the green ones? I like both."

“穿红的呢，还是穿绿的呢？两个我都喜欢啊。”

"The red ones," he decided. 

“穿红的吧，”他决定道，

"Tomorrow I'll wear the green ones."

“明天我再穿绿的。”

 He put the green ones in the drawer.

于是他把绿袜子放在了抽屉里。

“I like your stockings,” said the magician.

“我喜欢你的袜子。”法师说。

"They're new," said King Rollo.

“它们可是新的呢。”国王Rollo说。

"You took a long time to get dressed," said Cook.

“你花了很长时间精心打扮呢。”厨娘说。

"I didn't know which stockings to wear," said King Rollo.

“我不知道该穿哪双袜子。”国王Rollo说。

"When you've finished breakfast, 

“等你吃完早饭，

I'd like you to take this pie to old Mrs Harris," said Cook.

请帮我把这个派送去给老Harris夫人。”厨娘说。

"Good, I fancy a walk to show off my new stockings," said King Rollo. 

“好呀，正好我可以在路上秀秀我的新袜子了，”国王Rollo说，

"Where does she live?"

“她住在哪里？”

"Go down the road, take the third turning on the right, 

“沿着路走下去，走右边第三个路口，

then the second on the left,"said Cook.

然后接着走左边的第二个路口，”厨娘说，

"It's the first house on the right."

“在右边的第一个房子就是了。”

"Which side is right?" asked King Rollo.

“右边是哪边？”国王Rollo问。

"This side of course," said Cook,

“就是这边啦，”厨娘说着，

and she touched King Rollo's right arm.

举起了国王的右胳膊。

After King Rollo had cleaned his teeth, he took the pie.

国王Rollo漱完口后，拿起了派。

"Third turning right,second left,first house on the right," he said.

“第三个路口右转，第二个左转，右边的第一个房子！”他说。

"Good," said Cook."Be careful with your new stockings."

“对，”厨娘说，“小心你的新袜子哦。”

"See you later," said King Rollo.

“回头见。”国王Rollo说。

Almost at once King Rollo returned.

不到一会儿国王Rollo就回来了。

"Which side is right again?"he asked.

“右边是哪边？”他问。

"Oh, for goodness sake," said Cook."This side."

“哦，天哪，”厨娘说，“是这边。”

"I hope I remember," said King Rollo. 

“我希望我能记住，”国王说。

Then he said, "I've an idea," and he ran back indoors.

于是他说，“我有个主意，”然后跑回了房间。

He soon returned. 

没一会儿他就回来了。

This time he had on one red stocking and one green one. 

这一次他穿了一只红色的袜子一只绿色的袜子。”

"The green one is right," he said. "Goodbye,again."

“绿色的这只就是右边，”他说，“再一次，再见。

"Fancy not knowing right from left," said Cook. 

“竟然左右不分呢。”厨娘说。

"Eh?What?" said the Magician."But I do,I do."

“啊？什么？”法师说，“我分啊，我分啊。”

"I meant King Rollo," said Cook. 

“我说的是Rollo国王啦，”厨娘说，

"Are you sure that you know?"

“你确定你能分清左右吗？”

The magician lifted his cloak. 

法师掀起了他的斗篷。

One sock was black and the other white. 

原来他穿了一只黑色、一只白色的袜子。

"The black is on the right," he smiled.

“黑色这只就是右边。”他微笑着说。

"You're as bad as King Rollo," said Cook.

“你真是和跟Rollo国王一样呢。”厨娘说。

Down the road King Rollo came to a turning. 

在路上，国王Rollo来到了一个路口。

He looked at his stockings. "The first on the right," he said.

他看了看他的袜子，“这是第一个右边的路口。”他说。

Then he came to a crossroads. 

然后他遇到了一个十字路口。

"That makes the second on the right," he said.

“这里出现了第二个右边的路口。”他说。

At the third turning he saw Queen Gwen. 

在第三个路口他遇到了Gwen王后。

"Hello, Queen Gwen," he said. 

“哈喽，Gwen王后，”他说，

"I'm taking this pie to Mrs Harris. Come with me!"

“我正在把这个派送给Harris女士。跟我一起来吧！”

"Where does she live?" asked Queen Gwen.

“她住在哪里呢？”Gwen王后问。

"Second turning on the red, first house on the green," said King Rollo. 

“红色那边的第二个路口，绿色那边的第一个房子。”国王Rollo说。

"Oh, I mean left and right."

“噢，我的意思是右边还是左边啦。”

Queen Gwen laughed. "I like your new stockings," she said.

Gwen王后笑了。“我喜欢你的新袜子。”她说。

"Yes," said King Rollo, "and I've another pair like this at home!"

“哈哈，”国王Rollo说，“我在家里还有一双这样的呢！”
