Let’s quickly have a look what happened in the past week.
•The Napoli 2019 Summer Universiade finished in spectacular style as the Closing Ceremony officially ended the 12-day celebration of university student sport. Japan and USA placed first and second in the medal rankings. China finished in third place with 22 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 8 bronze medals. With the ceremonial passing of the Universiade flag from Napoli to Chengdu, Chengdu will be the host of the Summer Universiade in 2021. We are looking forward to enjoying the next round of games.
•Now, let’s turn our attention to Wimbledon. Last Sunday, Novak Djokovic captured his fifth Wimbledon crown, successfully defending the title he won last year. The 2019 Championships may be over but there's plenty to look forward to at Wimbledon 2020.
•The volleyball games are also very exciting. The 2019 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League ended with a bang as Russia claimed victory against hosts USA to win their second title in the FIVB's flagship annual competition.
•The 2019 Fencing World Championships have begun in Budapest, Hungary, on July 15, with preliminary competition taking place until July 17, and the opening ceremony and first day of gold-medal competition taking place on July 18. LIN Sheng from China took the silver medal in the individual women’s eppe.
•The 2019 Indonesia Open (badminton) takes place at Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Indonesia on July 16th. Unfortunately, no members from Chinese national team won in Men’s Singles. China has now failed to win Men’s Singles title in last thirty Indonesia Open editions. Last title was won in 1989 by Xiong Guobao..
•It is the 9 th day of the 18th edition of the FINA world Championships.
1.China bagged 13 gold, nine silver and one bronze to top the medal table.
2.China continues its golden hunting at the Gwangju FINA World Championships. 12 gold medals of them are from diving competition.
3.Lin Shan/Yang Jian claimed the mixed team event at the fifth day of the competition. It was the first time Chinese divers wrote their names on the record book since the mixed team event was introduced in the Worlds in Kazan 2015.
4.Xin Xin was the first female to finish the women's 10km open water swimming event and also the first of the 64 competitors in the event to qualify for Olympic Marathon 10km event at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
