47 Rebellion in Changsha and Yuyang
In the midst of the Ten Eunuchs holding immense power, they conspired together: anyone who dared to oppose them would face severe consequences. Zhao Zhong and Zhang Rang dispatched emissaries to extort wealth from individuals who had received official appointments for their service in quelling the Yellow Turban rebellion; those who resisted were promptly stripped of their positions. When Huangfu Song and Zhu Jun refused to comply, Zhao Zhong and his allies swiftly reported and ousted them from their offices. Meanwhile, the Emperor honored Zhao Zhong and his associates with the title of Generals of Chariots and Cavalry, while Zhang Rang and the other thirteen were granted the status of Marquises. As the imperial governance plunged into chaos, the populace grew discontented. This discontent erupted in Changsha under the leadership of Qu Xing, while Zhang Ju and Zhang Chun rebelled in Yuyang, with Zhang Ju declaring himself as the Emperor and Zhang Chun as the Grand General. Urgent pleas and reports flooded the court like a blizzard, but the Ten Eunuchs intercepted and concealed them all.
