Method for our Oral English Club members
Key Words: Deep Listening & Live Imitating
• Choose a suitable story (audible from internet or other resources, about 5 - 10 minutes long) – a list of choice will be available for our members on club website (www.oralenglishclub.com - under construction), and WeChat (through the ID: hemu_2013), as well as the OralEnglishClub on ximalaya.com.
• Listen to the story at least four times a day for a period up to two weeks, do NOT try to speak until you feel for an instinct to imitate the speaker.
• Then, before doing the formal imitation, you may need a separate task to correct your pronunciation, so that you can say each word in the story correctly and clearly. Sessions of training may be required depending on individual circumstances. Please consult hemu_2013 for further advice.
• Imitate the speaker, exacting the emotions and rhythms and intonation.
• Record your own voice, compare it with the original and fix the difference.
• Practice, practice, practice… until you become satisfied with your own speech.
• Join the regular gathering of club members - the English only occasions at each locality which are to be held every two weeks as recommended.
• Be active on Wechat, always be nice and ready to answer questions posted by other members in need.
• Attend to my every Sunday's webcast at 8:00pm - 9:00pm (Beijing Time), post your questions to be answered by me or by other members.
