孩子的诗园/Read-Aloud Rhymes

The first sound a child hears is actually a poem — the rhythmic, rhyming beat-beat-beat of a mother's heart. This early and fundamental relationship sets the stage for a natural and lifelong love of rhythm and rhyme.

Next to hugging and talking to children, reading aloud is the greatest gift we can give them. By reading aloud the poems, we are stimulating imagination, enriching vocabulary, building listening skills, and whetting the appetite for a love of reading.

Unlike the toys we buy our children, poems cannot break. Their flavor will last longer than a hundred boxes of candy. They come already assembled and need only one battery — a reader connected to the child. And that reader can start a glow that lasts a lifetime.
