Japan is considering adopting daylight saving time (DST) next year so that athletes in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games can compete in cooler hours. The proposal to bring clocks forward by two hours has received major opposition on social media with many worried it would result in longer working hours. 

日本正考虑明年采用夏令时，以便2020年东京奥运会时运动员能够在较为凉爽的时段比赛。将时钟拨快两小时的这一提议在社交媒体上引起强烈抗议，许多人担心这一提议会导致工作时间延长。

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said such a move would have a "major" impact on people's lives. Olympic officials had earlier asked Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to adopt daylight saving so that events like the marathon could be scheduled in the cooler morning hours. The government says it is yet to decide on the move but does want to limit the effect of summer heat on the athletes.
日本内阁官房长官菅义伟称，此举将对国民生活产生"重大"影响。东京奥组委官员此前曾请求日本首相安倍晋三采用夏令时，这样就可将马拉松等项目安排在较为凉爽的早间进行。日本政府称尚未决定是否采用夏令时，但是确实希望可以降低暑热对运动员的影响。

A young woman who weighs just 44 kg has scoffed 255 shish kebabs in 23 minutes to win an eating competition. Ceren Yilmaz was cheered on the whole way as she finished off 4 kg of shish kebabs at a restaurant in Antaly, Turkey. 
一位名叫赛伦.伊尔马，体重仅44公斤的年轻女子，在土耳其安塔利亚的一家餐厅的吃货挑战赛中获胜。她在23分钟内吃下了255串羊肉串，总重达4公斤，比赛过程中周围喝彩声不断。

The 21-year-old student also devoured a side salad, some bread, three glasses of Turkish yoghurt drinks and two glasses of water. She stunned everyone by smashing the restaurant's previous record. Her predecessor managed to eat only 193 sticks of meat.

As the end of the summer holiday approaches, Chinese elementary and junior high school students increasingly find themselves bogged down with too many school assignments. However, emerging illegal ghostwriting services offered on different online platforms seem like a great "help" to them.

"Contact customer service - tell the requirements - set the price - mail the notebook - pay the agreed fee - get the returned manuscript," that's the chain of the ghostwriting industry, according to a report. On Taobao, China's largest e-commerce platform, you can find shops offering such services. 
有报道称，代写行业的服务链是"联系客服——告知要求——确定价格——邮寄作业——支付议价——收到成品"。中国最大的电子商务平台淘宝网上有不少提供代写服务的网店。

Ghostwriting advertisements can also be seen on some social media platforms such as Weibo. College students are reported to be the main force of the ghostwriters. Plenty of time in the summer and the desire to earn pocket money motivate them to "help".
微博等社交媒体平台上也能看到代写广告。据报道，大学生是代写主力军。他们暑期时间充裕，加上渴望挣零花钱，所以他们乐于"帮忙"。

Eyes can review personality

Eyes really do tell a story. Using machine learning, earlier this year scientists discovered a connection between people's personalities and their eye movements. They then deployed artificial intelligence to track and analyze the eye movements of 42 students. 
眼睛确实会说话。今年早些时候，科学家借助机器学习发现人的性格和眼球运动之间存在关联，之后科学家利用人工智能追踪和分析了42名学生的眼球运动。

The new technology can detect four of the "Big Five" basic personality traits: agreeableness, conscientiousness, extroversion, and neuroticism. It could not judge openness to experience. The good news, according to one researcher, is that this finding could improve how humans and machines interact. 
这项新技术可识别出五大基本人格特质中的四种：随和型、尽责型、外向型和神经质型，但不能判断出乐于体验型人格。一位研究人员指出，好消息是，这一发现能够增进人和电脑间的互动。

If the machine can interpret what a person is like, the thought is, it can act accordingly. This research provides opportunities to develop robots and computers so that they can become more natural, and better at interpreting human social signals.
如果这项人工智能技术可以解读一个人的性格以及他的想法，它就能依据这些（模仿人类）采取行动这项研究提供了一个改良机器人和计算机的机会，让它们变得更自然，更善于解读人类的社交信号。
