feelings, know the reason that caused their emotional response, and then address
their state. This kind of ability is called emotional intelligence. People with
this kind of ability can get along well with others. The lecturer, using the
example of his daughter to demonstrate this, told of how the girl had a quarrel
with her friend about what kind of movie to watch. She felt upset about the
quarrel, but through her thinking, she realized that she was worrying about her
summer job instead of the quarrel and so she communicated with her friend about
this and got understanding and encouragement from her friend.
