True words are not fine-sounding
信言不美
Fine-sounding words are not true.
美言不信
The good man does not prove by argument
善者不辩
And he who proves by argument is not good
辩者不善
True wisdom is different from much learning
智者不辩
Much learning means little wisdom
博者不知
The sage has no need to hoard.
圣人不积
When his own last scrap has been used up on behalf of others.

He has more than before
既以为人己愈有
When his own last scrap has been used up in giving to others

His stock is even greater than before
既以与人己愈多
For heaven's way is to sharpen without cutting
天之道
利而不害
And the sage's way is to act without striving
人之道
为而不争
