Question 11 through 13 are basedon the following passage.

That long awaited trip is about to begin. You’ve been working hard getting everything organized. I’m here to give you thetips you need to making that packing task easier. The golden rule is: thelighter, the better. Most shampoo manufacturers seem to make a special point ofpackaging their products in containers which are either larger or heavy. Oneway to decrease the weight in your bag is to buy some small bottles and pourinto them just enough shampoo for the holiday. Another idea is to collectsamples of the shampoo throughout the year, ready for use when holiday timecomes around. What else means to go in a suitcase? Clothes, of course. Don’tforget to roll them up. It not only saves space, but also helps reducewrinkling. Remember to put an alarm clock, washing powder and medicine in thesuitcase. Still on the subject of the suitcase. To keep your cases safe, keepthem simple. If you use very expensive designer suitcases, you will invitetheft. A plain case won’t be noticed as much by thieves.

Questions

11. According to the speaker, how can wedecrease the weight in the bag?

R: By buying some small bottles andpouring into them just enough shampoo for the holiday or collecting samples ofthe shampoo.

12. What does the speaker tell us to do toprevent theft?

R: To use plain suitcases

13. What is the speaker mainly talkingabout?

R: Tips to make your packaging taskeasier.

Oneway to decrease the weight in your bag is to...

13题从文章第三句话“Im here to give you the tips you need to making that packing taskeasier.”

Questions 14 through 16 are based on thefollowing passage.

Some people believe that spending quiethours reading and thinking in a library is the best way to prepare for a debatecontest. Most memory experts, however, would recommend preparing with teammembers. Doing so increases the rate of learning and the likelihood ofremembering. When members of a debate team prepare together, they learn factsand master issues faster and more effectively than each individual could alone.Communication is essential to the ability to remember well, says a well-knownpsychologist. He’s found that isolating yourself is about the worst thing youcan do if you want to remember information. In other words, when you talk withothers, whether it is to describe a movie or complain about a difficult chapterin a textbook, you are actually strengthening your memory. The human memoryworks like a filing system. For a filing system to be effective, informationhas to be put in a logical place inside a folder that includes relatedinformation. When the members of the debate team practice by using facts insupport of an argument, they’re exactly gathering related pieces of informationinto a single mental folder. And during an actual debate, when the pressure ison, they will be more easily recalled than those memorized as isolated piecesof information.

Questions

14. What do memory experts think of readingand thinking quietly in debate preparation?

R: Most memory experts would recommendpreparing with team members.

15. In which situation are people mostlikely to improve their memory?

R: Describing a movie or complainingabout a difficult chapter in a textbook

16. In what way does human memory work likea filing system?

R: Information has to be put in alogical place inside a folder that includes related information.

去年记叙文只要抓住when,where, who, what, why, how即可。

15题考了文章的分论点,抓住题干部分的most likely,即可找到文中的原句“whether it is todescribe a movie or complain about a difficult chapter in a textbook,”。

16题还是考了分论点,抓住题干部分的filing system,这在文中有原句“The human memory workslike a filing system. For a filing system to be effective, information has tobe put in a logical place inside a folder that includes related information.”

Question 17 through 20 are based on thefollowing conversation.

M: Last night, the news said that in somecities, they are thinking of turning off the public water supply during part ofeach day.

W: Hmm, there is a shortage of water heretoo. Is there anything we can do to help? Water is so important.

M: Sure. There are many things we can do tocut down on the amount of water we use. One is to change some of the things inthe bathroom.

W: Hmm, don’t you think changing thebathroom can be too expensive?

M: I don’t mean to change everything, just, well, for instance, the shower head. There are new ones on the market that savealmost 50 percent of the water. They don’t cost very much.

W: Good idea. I read the normal flow for ashower is 20 liters per minute. By cutting down that by half, one would consumeonly 60 liters for a shower. If we turn off the water while we brush our teeth, that would help too.

M: Right. I wasn’t aware it could be thatmuch

W: There are new toilets that save a lot ofwater, but it isn’t necessary to change them right way.

M: We don’t need to change them. By placingone or two bricks in the tank to take up some of the space, the amount of waterflowing into the tank will be reduced.

W: That sounds great.

Questions

17. According to the man, what was the lastnight news about?

R: Turning off the public water supplyduring part of each day

18. Which of the following is thesuggestion made by speakers?

R: To change some of the things in thebathroom

19. With a new shower head, how much waterwould a person use for a shower?

R: Only 60 liters

20. What are the two speakers mainlytalking about?

R: How to solve the problem of watershortage

Turning off the public water supply during part of each day

To change some of the things in the bathroom
