     My name is Curtis Evans, and I’m extremely proud and honored to have been asked to read this book,The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,the first in this series.

     This series is a tremendous undertaking and you are most fortunate to have Professor Xiao Weiqing as your guide. She is the highly reputable Dean of the Translation and Interpreting  Department of the School of English Studies at Shanghai International Studies University. She is a former Fulbright scholar and has studied in both the US and Britain.

     I can personally and most highly recommend her to you. I have had the pleasure of teaching a number of translation classes together with her. I can thus assure you that her English is excellent, her scholarship is solid, and that you are in very capable hands with her as your teacher.

     This book is the first of the Chronicles of Narnia, by C. S. Lewis.
