作者席慕容是一位颇具传奇性的人物，现居台湾，是蒙古王族之后，外婆是一位货真价实的公主。上世纪八九十年代，席慕容的诗歌传遍大江南北，然而她的主业却是一名画家，画作曾获国内外多项大奖。她宣称，写诗只是作为累了一天之后的休息。她写诗，为的是“纪念一段远去的岁月，纪念那个只曾在我心中存在过的小小世界”。
