Red carpet—走红毯不化妆不行吗？

Alicia Keys did something pretty gutsy on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet. 

She showed up to the red carpet wearing absolutely no makeup.

I am not sure if you saw the photo or not.

We are not talking about the so called “no-makeup makeup”, which people use makeup to produce a natural look!

绝对不是所谓的裸妆，她是真的就木有化妆。

围观群众和记者就凌乱了，这是个什么情况，难道最新流行又变了？！

这么隆重的场合，别的女明星又打针 又整容 又敷面膜，恨不得芭芭拉小魔仙变身！

可是，Alicia竟然素颜出镜！

Why?

Alicia 在一次采访中提到，她曾经也是不化妆出门会感动十分焦虑的。

但有一天，她要去拍新专辑的封面。

She said: “I'd just come from the gym, had a scarf under my baseball cap, and the beautiful photographer Paola said, "I have to shoot you right now, like this! The music is raw and real, and these photos have to be too!"”

于是，摄影师就给了拍了一组素颜的封面照。

没想到效果非常好！

Alicia说 I swear it is the strongest, most empowered, most free, and most honestly beautiful that I have ever felt.

从那开始Alicia在很多场合就不再化妆了。

She wrote in a letter that one of the many things I was tired of was the constant judgment of women. The constant stereotyping(把···模式化) through every medium（中等的） that makes us feel like being a normal size is not normal, and heaven forbid if you’re plus-size. Or the constant message that being sexy means being naked. All of it is so frustrating and so freakin’ impossible.

这次Alicia 虽然没有化妆，但举手投足之间充满了自信。

事后，也有很多人批评她说，出席这么重要的场合不化妆是对别人的不尊重，说她看起来很没有精神！

但是，为什么女孩不化妆就是对别人的不尊重呢？

为什么男人不化妆就没有问题呢？

是不是我们的思想都被一些所谓的常识禁锢了呢？

Actually, to wear makeup or not to wear makeup is a personal choice. 

If you like to wear makeup or you feel better when you are wearing makeup, then do it. If  it makes you feel good, why not?

But if you just do not want to wear makeup. Totally fine! No one has the right to judge you.
