上一期我们谈了个人提升的重要性。我们需要主动地有意识地去关注自我的提升。那如何提升呢? 我们来接着看 John Maxwell 的 《the 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth》。其中讲到两条法则: The Law of Awareness 和 The Law of Design. 这两条可以作为个人提升的两个基本步骤：首先，要了解你自己，问自己一些问题。之后，就要学会建立一些提升的战略系统。
Step 1: The Law of Awareness - Know yourself to grow yourself.
首先，你需要了解你自己。请问自己以下一些问题。
1. What’s your passion and interest?
你对什么最感兴趣，最有热情？
2. What’s your uniqueness and strength?
你有什么特长和优势？
3. What do you want in your life and why?
你一生想要的是什么？为什么？
4. Where do you most need to grow?
你哪方面最需要提升？
5. Whose advice can you get to help you along the way?
你能从谁那里获得建议，一路上帮到你？
你可能会觉得这些问题都特别基本。但是真的有很多人并没有把它们搞清楚。有很多人在生活中感到迷茫，或者没有希望，很有可能就是没有想清楚这些问题。
"One of the main keys to being successful and fulfilling your purpose is to understand your unique talents and to find the right arena in which to use them. Everyone needs to spend some time of his life to discover his unique strength."
获取成功和实现梦想的一个关键要素就是了解自己的特长，并找到合适的舞台上去展现。每个人都需要花一定的时间去发现他自己特有的那个优势。

你需要知道你究竟想要什么。遵从内心的梦想，而不要受外界的影响。如果你的目标不明确，那就会在人生的路上感到迷茫。
Step 2: The Law of Design - To Maximize Growth, Develop Strategies.
我们之前说了个人提升要有战略。不论是运动员，艺术家还是科学家，他们所取得的成就都是经过了有系统的刻苦练习。所谓的系统，就是一个具体，有序，并且能重复的原则或者是行为，帮助你如计划达到目标。
Most accomplishments in life come more easily if you approach them strategically by creating and using systems. A system is a process for predictably achieving a goal based on specific, orderly, repeatable principles and practices.
每个人所需要的系统会因专业或者经历的不同而各异。作者以他自己为例，谈到系统的重要性。他举了几个例子:
1. A system for gleaning information.
获取信息的系统，找到那些获取优质信息的途径。比如说某些书，网站，音频。
2. A system for capturing and filing all the good stories, quotes, and articles.
将你搜集到的故事，文章，或想法分类保存的系统。比如作为一名设计师，你就要建立自己的灵感库。在需要创作的时候能够很容易地找到相关素材。
3. A system for thinking.
帮助你思考的系统，通过思考把从外界吸取的知识和信息内化成自己的。
4. A system for planning the days.
时间安排的系统。最有效地安排自己的时间和精力。
以上就是作者举的几个例子，对于我个人来说，获取信息和将信息分类的系统特别重要，它能帮助我在需要的时候很快找到相关素材，产生灵感。

尽管每个人需要建立的系统不尽相同，但是一个好的系统有以下一些共性：
1. Take the big picture into account. Begin with the end in mind.
经常要提醒自己站出来看到全局。在开始的时候预想最终想呈现的结果。
2. Make use of priorities.
每个人的时间都是有限的。要学会设立优先级，确保最重要的事情在最合适的时间完成。
3. Include measurement.
建立考量尺度，相当于一个进度条。
“When people know their work is being measured, their productivity increases.”
4. Include application.
包括具体的行动步骤。
“It’s not enough just to plan, though planning is important. Both plan and action must gotogether. The plan creates the track. The action provides the traction. The path to success is to take massive, determined actions.”
总结：
1. The law of awareness. You must know yourself to grow yourself. Ask yourself the following questions:
· What’s your passion and interest?
· What’s your uniqueness and strength?
· What do you want in your life and why?
· Where do you most need to grow?
· Whose advice can you get to help you along the way?
2. The law of design. To Maximize Growth, Develop Strategies. Good systems take the big picture into account, make use of priorities, include measurement and provide specific actions.
