Do you know why we give gifts at Christmas?

你们知道为什么我们在圣诞节要送礼物吗？

We give presents because it is Jesus’ birthday.

我们送礼物是因为圣诞节那天是耶稣的生日！

Long ago, an angel told Mary she would have a baby named Jesus.

很久以前，一位天使告诉玛利亚，她将会有一个孩子叫做耶稣。

Mary and her husband, Joseph, were very happy.

玛利亚和她的丈夫约瑟夫都非常高兴。

They had a lot to do to get ready for the baby.

为了准备孩子的出生，他们有很多很多事情要做。

But first, they had to take a long trip to Bethlehem.

首先呀，他们得去长途旅行到伯利恒这个城市。

Mary rode a donkey, Joseph walked.

玛利亚骑着驴，约瑟夫牵着驴，拉着她们走在前面。

When they got to Bethlehem，many people were there.

但是，当他们到了伯利恒之后才发现那里有很多人。

Mary and Joseph were very tired, but there was no place for them to stay.

玛利亚和约瑟夫都非常疲惫，但是他们却找不到休息的地方。

They slept on a bed of hay in a stable with cows and donkeys.

他们只好住在一个马厩里，把干草当作床，那里还有奶牛和驴。

That night, baby Jesus was born.

就在那天晚上,小耶稣诞生了。

Angels told the shepherds,

天使们对牧羊人他们说:

“Jesus is born, you will find him lying in a manger.”

“耶稣出生了，你们能在马厩里找到他。”

Wise men followed a star to the stable and baby Jesus.

智者们跟随着天上的一颗星星的指引找到了马厩和小耶稣。

They brought presents because they love him.

他们还给小耶稣带了礼物，因为他们爱耶稣。

We give gifts to show our love.

所以呢，我们圣诞节送礼物是为了表达我们的爱意。

And we say,“Happy birthday, Baby Jesus!

我们也会说，“生日快乐，小耶稣!”
