There was once a very poor farmer. He was struggling to feed his family. One day he said to his son, who was called Jack. ‘Alas, this year has not been very lucky for us at all. Our only choice is to sell our cow!’
从前有一个非常贫穷的农夫。他挣扎着养家糊口。一天，他对他的儿子说，他的儿子叫杰克。唉，今年对我们来说一点也不幸运。我们唯一的选择就是卖掉我们的奶牛!”
‘You can’t sell bessy! Shes my friend!’ Jack said

‘Yes’ father said jack, reluctantly.

Jack and the Cow set off on the long journey into town.

Some hours later, jack arrived at the outskirts of the town, and came across a mysterious old man with long white hair and skin that looked like crumpled paper.

‘Hello young man, tell me where are you off to with that magnificent cow of yours?’

Thiiiiiiissssssss He pulled out a funny looking bean from his backpocket

‘A bean! Sorry sir is this some kind of joke? I don’t find it very funny, I haven’t eaten in two days and Im not in the mood, now excsuse me sir but I….’

‘This isn’t any ordinary bean Jack, it’s a magic beeeaaaannn!’

‘Magic Bean? What do you mean? Wait, how did you know my name?’

‘Never mind that Jack, this bean can bring you great fortune, all you have to do is believe’

Jack believed the wise old man and swapped the Cow for the bean. He then set off home

When he returned home his father was very angry!

His father took the bean and tossed it out of the window, he then sent jack to bed with no supper.

The next morning Jack woke up and discovered something Magical had happened. The stalk had grown a thousand metres into the sky!

Jack stood and looked at it, he was amazed! ! Woooowww, I wonder what is at the top of it? He couldn’t see because it went beyond the clouds.

He began to climb the tree, it took him a very long time, as he got further up he looked down below and everything became smaller and smaller.

When he got to the top, he was even more amazed. ‘Woooooooow he said, it’s a castle! I wonder who lives here?’

He sneaked into the castle, everything was huge! A huge set of table and chairs, an enormous sofa, enormous rooms with enormous doors!

Jack had a good look round in all the rooms, but then he heard the door open and shut. He went cold with fear! He heard in a booming voice.
