Alfie awoke to a glorious sun,

阿尔菲在灿烂的阳光中醒来，

Wanting to play and have lots of fun.

他想去开心的玩耍，

But his mates had moved on

with their mum and their dad,

Leaving him lonely,

leaving him sad.

但是他的同伴都

跟着爸爸妈妈们搬走了，

只剩下他孤单一个人，

他很伤心。

Outside, up a tree,

he hung upside down,

But that was no fun

without friends around.

外面有一棵树，

他倒吊在树上，

可是身边没有朋友，

一点也不好玩。

The other kids playing were bigger you see.

你看那些玩的很开心的

孩子们都比他大。

‘why is there no one

the same size as me?’

为什么没有人跟我一样大呢

Without all the kids

he had played with and known,

Alfie felt small and very alone.

没有了之前一起玩儿的伙伴，

阿尔菲觉得自己很小，

很孤独。

That night,

while he watched a star

fall from the sky,

He thought,

 ‘A star made for wishes!’

At least he could try.

那天晚上，

他看到一颗流星从天上划过，

他想，

这是一颗许愿星

至少他可以试试

He squeezed his eyes shut

 and wished for a mate,

Someone to play with

from morning till late.

于是他紧闭双眼，

许愿能有一个玩伴，

从早上一直玩到黑夜。

Alfie waited for his wish to come true,

But when nothing happened

 he went home.

What else could he do?

阿尔菲等待着愿望成真，

可是什么也没有发生，

他回了家，

除此之外他还能做什么呢？

Early next morning,

when all hope had passed,

Alfie heard rustling amongst the tall grass!

第二天一早，

当他已经不再抱任何希望的时候，

阿尔菲听到有东西

在高高的草丛里沙沙作响！

He tip-toed over.

What could it be?

他踮着脚尖轻轻走过去。

会是什么呢？

‘surprise!’

said a girl,

jumping with glee.

“嘿！”

一个女孩高兴地跳了出来。

‘My name is Myrna.

Will you be my friend?’

我叫莫娜

你能和我做朋友吗

His loneliness gone,

Alfie could smile again.

阿尔菲的孤独消失了，

他终于再次露出了微笑。

They smiled and laughed

and had so much fun,

playing hide and seek

without caring who won.

他们笑啊笑啊，

玩得很开心，

一起玩捉迷藏，

也不在乎谁输谁赢。

Alfie was happy his wish had come true.

I wished for a friend as special as you
