我最感兴趣的科学领域是化学。我最开始知道化学的时候很早。在小学的时候，我的爸爸给我买了一本大部头的科学百科全书，当时我第一次认识到“化学”的概念。我现在依然能记得书中对化学仪器的描绘和实验插图、对一些基本化学实验的详尽解释和他们在生活当中如何被运用，这些都令人很感兴趣。到了初三，我第一次系统地对化学进行了学习。与大多数中国应试教育不同，我有幸在一所强调将书本内容与现实相结合的学校进行学习。除了在课堂上学习书本知识与课后的习题，我们也经常去实验室内进行各种各样有趣的化学实验，将理论与实践相结合。现在想来，我对化学感兴趣是受到了环保理念的启发。考虑到气候变化、全球变暖等议题，基本化学知识在理解人类活动对自然环境的影响上是必不可少的。有了化学知识，我希望能在以后的生活中为环境保护出一份力。
Of all the science subjects, I’m most interested in the field of chemistry. My first experience of chemistry when I was just a child. In primary school, my father bought me avoluminous（大部头的、浩繁的） encyclopedia concerning natural science and that was when I first learned the concept of “chemistry”.
I can still vividly recall the illustrations of experiment equipment, thorough explanations to some basic steps in an experiment as well as how it could be applied in real life, which were allintriguing（令人感兴趣的）. In my third year in junior high, I was able to study chemistry in a systematic way for the first time. In contrast to the so-calledexam-oriented education（应试教育） that many Chinese schools employ, I was lucky enough to study in a school which focused onapplying textbook knowledge to practical uses（将书本知识与实际用途相结合）.
Apart from in-class learning and after-class exercises, we often had the chance to go to the lab and operate various experiments about chemistry so that we couldlink theoretical knowledge with practice（将理论与实践相结合）. In retrospect（回想）, my interest in chemistry was probably inspired by environmental issues.In light of topics like climate change and global warming, a basic grasp of chemistry is essential in understanding the influence of humans on the environment. I hope I will be able to do my part in environmental protection with the help of chemistry.
