重点人群接种新冠疫苗

China will start inoculating some key groups with COVID-19 vaccines during the winter-spring period, said a National Health Commission official on Saturday. In a two-step vaccination drive, the vaccines will be given first to priority groups, including those engaged in handling imported cold-chain products and people working in port inspection and quarantine, aviation, public transport, fresh markets, medical treatment and disease control, Cui Gang, an official with the NHC's Disease Control Department, said at a press conference. 
国家卫生健康委疾控局负责人崔钢12月19日在新闻发布会上介绍，在冬春季节到来之际，我国将针对部分重点人群开展新冠病毒疫苗的接种工作。崔刚表示，我国的疫苗接种工作将"两步走"。第一步，主要是针对部分重点人群开展接种，这些人群包括从事进口冷链、口岸检疫、航空空勤、公共交通、生鲜市场、医疗疾控等领域的工作人员。

The vaccination program also will cover those who plan to work or study in countries and regions with medium or high risks of exposure to the virus, Cui added. Next, with COVID-19 vaccines officially approved to enter the market or the yield of vaccines improving steadily, China will put more vaccines into use, inoculating the eligible population as widely as possible, Cui said.
前往中高风险国家或者地区去工作或者学习的人员。第二步，随着疫苗获批上市，疫苗产量逐步提高，将会有更多的疫苗投入使用，符合条件的群众都能实现"应接尽接"。

To optimize the employment market, new policies have been reinforced to nurture high-quality and skilled workers. Tang Tao, vice-minister of human resources and social security, said at a news conference organized by the State Council Information Office on Friday that in the next five years vocational education will continue to be a vital way to produce high-quality and skilled workers. "So far, the nation has nearly 2,400 vocational schools with about 3.6 million students on campuses. What's important is that there are about 1 million vocational school graduates joining the group of skilled workers every year, so we have to make sure the educational instruction is done well," he said.

In addition to enhancing vocational education, it's also of great importance to improve  income for skilled workers to give them stronger incentives, he said.

According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, there are more than 200 million skilled workers on the Chinese mainland, among whom 50 million are highly skilled. Skilled workers account for only about 26 percent of the total work force.

China's Chang'e 5 probe retrieved about 1,731 grams of samples from the moon, according to the China National Space Administration. The National Astronomical Observatories, a subsidiary of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has taken charge of the lunar rocks and soil brought back by the Chang'e 5 robotic probe and will start research on them soon. A ceremony for receiving the lunar samples was held at the National Astronomical Observatories headquarters in Beijing on Saturday morning shortly after Zhang Kejian, head of the China National Space Administration, handed them over to Hou Jianguo, the academy's president.

Scientists will carry out the storage, analysis, and research of the country's first samples collected from the extraterrestrial object. The CNSA said it would release relevant policies for the lunar samples retrieved by Chang'e 5 to coordinate and promote scientific research, encourage more scientists at home and abroad to participate, and strive to secure more scientific achievements. The CNSA will also carry out public science popularization programs and cultural exchanges related to the mission.

France announced on Sunday that it has implemented a 48-hour ban on travel to Britain, joining a growing number of European countries halting travel to Britain after a new strain of the coronavirus was detected in that country. At least six European countries have announced flights will cease if they haven't done so already, while France and Belgium have banned train travel. Top health officials in Britain say a new, fast-moving variant of the coronavirus could be up to 70 percent more transmissible than previous ones.

This strain appears to be driving the rapid spread in London and southern England.
