Life is one strong, long string of character-defining moments. And I was lucky that at 18 I knew what I exactly wanted to do. But I didn't know who I was. How could I? And how could any of us?
人生就是一连串的“角色定义时刻”。我很庆幸18岁的时候就清楚自己想要做什么，但我却不清楚“我是谁”。怎么会呢？我们怎么会不知道自己是谁呢？
Because for the first 25 years of our lives, we are trained to listen to voices that are not our own. Parents and professors fill our heads with wisdom and information, and then employers and mentors take their place and explain how this world really works.
因为我们25岁之前，一直都在听取别人的声音，家长、老师向我们灌输智慧和信息，之后，取而代之的是领导和导师们，他们告诉我们世界如何运转。
And usually these voices of authority make sense, but sometimes, doubt starts to creep into our heads and into our hearts. And even when we think, 'that's not quite how I see the world,' it's kind of easier to just to nod in agreement and go along.
通常这些权威的“声音”通常比较奏效，但有时怀疑就会涌进我们的内心。有时，即便我们觉得“这与我的世界观不太一致”，我们也更倾向于点头并随波逐流。
