Foreign trade sustains growth momentum
前8个月外贸同比增长23.7%

China's foreign trade sustained growth momentum in the first eight months of the year as external demand continued to pick up and the economy maintained stable development. In the first eight months of the year, the country's total imports and exports expanded 23.7 percent year-on-year to 24.78 trillion yuan, according to data from the General Administration of Customs released Tuesday. The figure marked a 22.8 percent increase compared with the level registered during the same period in 2019. 
由于外部需求持续恢复，国内经济保持稳定增长，我国外贸进出口进一步呈现稳中加固的态势。海关总署9月7日公布的数据显示，今年前8个月，我国进出口总值24.78万亿元人民币，同比增长23.7%，比2019年同期增长22.8%。

Both exports and imports logged double-digit growth in the January-August period, surging 23.2 and 24.4 percent from a year earlier, respectively. The trade surplus increased 17.8 percent year-on-year during the same period to 2.34 trillion yuan.
今年1-8月，我国进口和出口均实现两位数增长，其中出口同比增长23.2%，进口同比增长24.4%。贸易顺差2.34万亿元，同比增加17.8%。

Gatherings, parties discouraged during holidays
疾控专家:假期不提倡聚集和聚会

Gatherings and parties will not be encouraged during the upcoming Chinese holidays, an immunization expert said Tuesday. "Large gatherings are not allowed," Wang Huaqing, an expert with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a news conference organized by the State Council inter-agency task force for COVID-19 response. People need to learn the risk levels of their destinations before travel and avoid those with medium or high risk of coronavirus exposure. 
中国疾控中心免疫规划首席专家王华庆9月7日在国务院联防联控机制新闻发布会上表示，在即将到来的中秋和国庆假期，不提倡聚集和聚会，尤其是不允许大规模聚集。公众在出行之前要了解目的地的疫情防控等级，如果是中高风险地区就不能前往。

People still need to follow personal protection measures, including wearing masks, washing hands and social distancing, during their trips, Wang said. As of Monday, China had cleared all its high-risk areas for COVID-19 and only three regions remain on the list of medium-risk areas, according to Mi Feng, spokesperson for the National Health Commission.
公众出行时仍然要采取戴口罩、勤洗手、保持社交距离等个人防护措施。国家卫健委新闻发言人米锋表示，截至9月6日，全国高风险地区清零，中风险地区下降到3个。

Beijing to become international consumption center
北京5年建成国际消费中心城市

Beijing on Sunday unveiled measures in the next five years to build itself into an international consumption center. In an implementation plan for this goal, issued by the Beijing Commerce Bureau, the city said it will carry out specific projects including those focusing on new consumption landmarks, new brands, digital consumption and the development of cultural, tourism, sports, education and medical consumption. Over 3,000 flagship stores of brands from at home and abroad are expected to open by 2025 in Beijing. The capital will also build about 10 cluster areas featuring domestic time-honored brands and incubate more than 100 new consumption brands. 
9月5日，北京市商务局正式发布了《北京培育建设国际消费中心城市实施方案》，将实施消费新地标打造、消费品牌矩阵培育、数字消费创新引领、文旅消费潜力释放、体育消费质量提升、教育医疗消费能级提升等专项行动，力争5年建成国际消费中心城市。力争到2025年，吸引国际国内品牌在京开设3000家以上首店、创新店、旗舰店。打造10个左右老字号聚集区，孵化100个以上新消费品牌。

Through five years of efforts, Beijing will basically become an international consumption center with global influence, competitiveness and reputation, said Yan Ligang, head of the Beijing Commerce Bureau. In July, China approved Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Chongqing to take the lead in building themselves into international consumption centers.

Taliban announces formation of caretaker govt 
阿富汗塔利班组建临时政府

The Taliban announced on Tuesday night the formation of Afghanistan's caretaker government, with Mullah Hassan Akhund appointed as acting prime minister. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told a press conference the move was aimed at carrying out necessary government functions, stressing it was an "acting" government. He did not elaborate on how long the caretaker government will serve.
