A Briefing on Zhejiang Province
Ladies and gentlemen,Welcome to Zhejiang,a picturesque land in China.Located on the southeast coast of China and south side of the Yangtze River Delta,Zhejiang faces the East China Sea to the east, and neighbours Fujian Province to the south, both Jiangxi and Anhui Provinces to the west, and Shanghai City and Jiangsu Province to the north. The longest river in the province is the Qiantang River, also know as Zhejiang, hence the name of the province, with Hangzhou as its capital. Zhejiang had 11 cities. The land area of Zhejiang is 105,600 square kilometres. Zhejiang has a population of over 58 million.
The topography of Zhejiang features relatively more mountains and hills and less plains and fields. The whole area is roughly divided into 7 parts:North Plain,West Hill,East Hill,Central Jinqu Basin,South Mountain,Southeast Coastal Plain and Coastal Island.
The beauty of Zhejiang lies indeed in the waters all over its territory. The coastline of Zhejiang is the longest among its coastal peers across the country. It is blessed with some deep-water bays like the Hangzhou Bay, Xiangshan Bay, with the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port topping the world port ranking in freight throughput over a decade.
Zhejiang is one of China's major provinces in fishery industry with the most annual catch of marine fishing, and its Shipu Port and Shenjiamenm Port are listed into the nation's “Big Four”fishing ports.
Zhejiang is a typical case of subtropical monsoon climate, with distinctive four seasons, abundant sunshine, moderate climate and moist air.
The whole province covers a woodland area of 6.7 million hectares. Both forest coverage rate and bamboo forest area come out top in China. A range of mineral deposits are found within the province.
With the provincial capital Hangzhou as a hub, Zhejiang has formed a radiant pattern of public transport network of air, rail and highway connecting itself to the other parts of the country. As of 2019, the province had a total of 7 civilian airports, including 3 international airports: Hangzhou Xiaoshan,Ningbo Lishe, and Wenzhou Longwan. There are multiple passenger liners operating daily between Ningbo,Zhoushan of Zhejiang and Shanghai. The current stretch of Zhejiang's high-speed railway covers 1,485 kilometres, ranking fourth nationwide.
Zhejiang has a long history and rich culture, and is part of the cradle of China's ancient civilization.
The Spring and Autumn Period saw the first peak of Zhejiang's history when it was the Kingdom of Yue. Following the loss to the neighbouring Kingdom of Wu in a war, the king of Yue, Goujian, managed to defeat the Wu after enduring humiliation and struggling for resurgence over two decades. As a result,King Goujian's story of swallowing insult for final revival has since been widely passed down to the later generations, making Zhejiang culture an orthodox part of the Chinese culture.
The second peak appeared in the Han,Wei & Six Dynasties Period.Droves of immigrants from central China, including those from noble families, not only contributed to the local economic and social development, but left Zhejiang a wealth of invaluable cultural heritage.
Next came the third peak appeared the Kingdom of Wuyue in the late Tang Dynasty. The King of Wuyue, whose regime centred around Zhejiang in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period, adopted a basic policy of supporting the wellbeing of his subjects, allowing Zhejiang to become then China's only place where local people were able to live in peace and happiness, and marking a prelude to the ensuing 800-year prosperity of Zhejiang.
Then in the two Song Dynasties was the fourth peak for Zhejiang. Hangzhou was made capital in the Southern Song Dynasty, establishing itself as the top metropolis around the world.Ningbo was the starting point for the Maritime Silk Road.
the fifth peak arrived in the Ming & Qing Dynasties and the modern era, culminating at the times between late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period.they became mainstay of their motherland to bolster it up at the times of crisis, turning the tide then and being the pride of Zhejiang today.
Zhejiang cuisine has a long history and is one of China's eight leading cuisines. It falls mainly into four categories: Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shaoxing, and Wenzhou, and each of them displays the most distinctive style of Zhejiang cuisine- varying according to the times and place. Zhejiang snacks are time-honoured and have strongly rustic flavour, Here're some of those big names: Hangzhou: Zhiweiguan, Ningbo: Guanyagou, and so on.
Rich resources in Zhejiang since ancient times mean it abounds in local special products. Of them,Hangzhou West Lake Longjin Tea ranks first among China's top ten green tea brands. Well-known foodstuffs are:Jinhua Ham,Shaoxing Wine etc.
It is said that“Zhejiang people”is the largest pride of Zhejiang as humans make everything possible. A brilliant Zhejiang is created by an unfading valuable asset built on the striving of generations for centuries, so is today's “Zhejiang spirit". We have reason to believe that Zhejiang is bound to write a colourful new chapter in the future as long as with such spirit.
Tourism sector in Zhejiang Province has undergone three stages in growth: “scenic spot-centred”“city-centred" and “comprehensive development of integrated tourism”.Zhejiang is the first among its national peers to initiate integrated tourism and put it into practice, and such an idea has already produced some preliminary results in many of its cities and counties.
Here's the overall goal of the tourism development in Zhejiang Province: keeping tourism sector at the forefront of China; taking the lead in turning the province into a model of China's integrated tourism, the reform and innovation of tourism industry, and tourism-driven revival of the rural area. As a result, “picturesque Zhejiang” will be worthy of the name of one of China's best travel destinations and an influential international travel destination.
In terms of destination development, Zhejiang Province mainly adopts the mode of integrated tourism in metropolitan area.It features a step-by-step approach of what is called“from one point to whole area”, thus promoting the overall development of provincial integrated tourism. At the moment, initial results of integrated tourism in metropolitan areas such as Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou and Jinhua are being felt.
The progress in integrated tourism of Zhejiang Province has brought the breakout tourism products in variety and number. There are emerging areas such as agro-tourism, industrial tourism, study tourism, sports tourism, health tourism, marine tourism and shopping tourism in practice, propelling integrated tourism into personalized, differentiated products.
As always,Zhejiang will, from the perspective of integrated tourism, advance the reform, progress and upgrade in the travel and tourism industry. Here're the five aspects in which major, measures are to be taken to attain the goals: Optimize spatial layout of destinations.Optimize the product system of destinations.Improve the system of tourism public service.Lift marketing performance in tourism market.Reinforce comprehensive governance.
