Groundwater regulation signed
《地下水管理条例》签署下月起施行
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has signed a State Council decree unveiling a regulation on the management of groundwater. The new regulation, which will take effect on Dec 1, sets out specific rules for groundwater in the areas of survey and planning, conservation and protection, over-exploitation treatment, pollution control, and supervision and management.
国务院总理李克强日前签署国务院令，公布《地下水管理条例》，自2021年12月1日起施行。《条例》从调查与规划、节约与保护、超采治理、污染防治、监督管理等方面作出规定。
To enhance groundwater conservation and protection, the total amount of groundwater extracted as well as groundwater levels will be placed under control. Except under special circumstances, groundwater that is not replenished easily should not be exploited. It said work should be done to strengthen the control of activities polluting groundwater and the rules that prevent groundwater pollution caused by soil pollution, production and construction activities should be refined.
《条例》规定，为加强地下水节约和保护，实行地下水取水总量控制和水位控制制度。除特殊情形外，禁止开采难以更新的地下水。强化对污染地下水行为的管控，细化防止生产建设活动污染地下水的制度。细化防止土壤污染导致地下水污染的制度。

Students to be screened for depression
抑郁症筛查纳入学生健康体检
China will include screening for depression in student health checks amid efforts to prevent mental disorders among teenagers, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Ministry of Education. The statement was released in response to a proposal on preventing depression among teenage students put forth by the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body, during its fourth session.
教育部11月9日对政协第十三届全国委员会第四次会议《关于进一步落实青少年抑郁症防治措施的提案》进行了答复，明确将推进青少年抑郁症防治工作，将抑郁症筛查纳入学生健康体检内容。
A record of students' mental health will also be kept so as to track their health status on a regular basis and offer timely interventions if they show signs of mental illness, the statement said, noting a system for prevention will be put in place.

Weifang added to Creative Cities Network

Weifang, Shandong province has been added to UNESCO's Creative Cities Network as a Crafts and Folk Arts City, UNESCO said on Nov 8. Weifang, with a population of 9.38 million, has guqin, a traditional Chinese stringed musical instrument, and paper-cutting listed as masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

"Marz Edition" ketchup revealed
全球首款'火星番茄酱'问世
Heinz revealed its first "Marz Edition" ketchup with tomatoes produced on Earth in Mars-like conditions. A team of 14 astrobiologists worked for nine months at the Aldrin Space Institute at the Florida Institute of Technology, growing tomatoes in a controlled environment with soil, temperature and water conditions similar to Mars.

The experiment, which has been two years in the making, demonstrates the possibility of long-term food production on Mars. The research team and Massimino will be the first to taste the final product on Nov 10.
