Microwave ovens work by using
a form of energy waves, called
microwaves, to heat up food from
the inside. Microwave ovens use
electricity to send these energy
waves into your food. All foods (and
all things!) are made up of tiny'
particles called molecules (say:
MAW-luh-kyoolz), and the waves
cause these molecules to move back
and forth really fast. This
movement creates the heat that
warms your food.
