1.CHINA'S GDP EXPANDS 4.8 PCT IN Q1
第一季度我国GDP同比增长4.8%
The National Bureau of Statistics【国家统计局】 says that China's gross domestic product【国内生产总值】 expanded 4.8 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2022, despite disruptions caused by the resurgence of COVID-19 cases and uncertainties in the international environment.
国家统计局发布数据显示，面对国际环境更趋复杂严峻和国内疫情频发带来的多重考验，2022年第一季度我国GDP依旧同比增长4.8%。
In the first three months, the country's GDP grew to a total of 27 trillion yuan. Retail sales slumped by 3.5 percent in March, weighing the Q1 retail sales growth down to 3.3 percent. The retail sales of commodities increased 3.6 percent, and revenue from catering was up 0.5 percent year on year. China's fixed-asset investment rose 9.3 percent year on year, with manufacturing investment surging 15.6 percent, surpassing the pre-COVID-19 level. Also in the first quarter, the added value of agriculture grew by 4.8 percent year on year as well as the output of pork, beef, mutton and poultry which was up 8.8 percent, reaching 23.95 million tonnes. 
一季度，中国的GDP增长到了27万亿元。社会消费品零售总额3月份同比下降3.5%，将第一季度的零售额同比增长压低到3.3%。商品零售额增长3.6%，餐饮业收入同比增长0.5%。全国固定资产投资(不含农户)同比增长9.3%，其中制造业投资激增15.6%，超过了新冠疫情之前的水平。此外，一季度农业（种植业）增加值同比增长4.8%，猪牛羊禽肉产量达2395万吨，同比增长8.8%。

From outside, this Lianhua supermarket in Caojiadu looks to be closed, just like the rest of the businesses nearby. But the shop manager here and her six employees have been busy inside for days. They started living in the store since March 31st.
从外面看，曹家渡的这家联华超市和附近其他商店一样大门紧闭，但是店内，店长和她的六个同事却已经忙碌好几天了。从3月31日到现在他们一直住在店里。

We make beds on the floor at night, and move them away during day. We sleep right here in this area. We also need to wake up at 2 or 3 am to unload goods, and then begin work later in the morning.

This outlet has been doing its best to accept orders online, they typically manage nearly 200 orders per day. So far, 60 percent of Lianhua's stores have resumed operating in this manner across the city.

The Shanghai First Pharmaceutical flagship store located on East Nanjing Road, which is also a subsidiary【子公司】 of Bailian Group, has been open around the clock during the lockdown, in order to meet people's needs.
百联集团的另一家子公司，南京东路上的第一医药商店旗舰店在疫情封控期间依旧坚持24小时营业，以满足人们的需求。

Many people have chronic diseases【慢性病】, and hospitals may not have enough stock. I went to hospitals for this medication but didn't get any. Then I came here and got it.
慢性病的人多，医院不一定有足够的库存。我跑了几家医院都没有买到这个药，所以跑到这里来了，都买到了。
First Pharmaceutical has also launched an online service, where medication can be purchased and delivered to the gates of locked down communities. Over 30 outlets have already opened their doors to customers and will continue to offer delivery services to nearby communities.
第一医药还推出了一项线上服务，可以将居民购买的药品订单配送到封控小区门口。已有30多家门店陆续恢复营业，并将持续做好附近社区的配送服务。
3.FENGXIAN FINDS WAY TO GET FOOD, ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES TO RESIDENTS

At the gate of a residential compound in Xidu subdistrict, a temporary stall was set up to deliver food and essential supplies to people. Volunteer Yu Huiying handles orders, and then goods are sorted and delivered to households. 
在西渡街道的一个小区门口，建立了一个临时站点为居民配送食物及刚需物资。志愿者余慧莺负责处理订单，随后货物被分类并配送至各户。

Despite an adequate supply of food from wholesale markets, the shortage of delivery personnel has meant people haven't always gotten regular deliveries. But centralized purchasing and delivery means food and other supplies are distributed in bulk to each of the 403 stalls.
