With nearly 1.6 million 5G base stations, China now owns the largest 5G network worldwide, said the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Tuesday. Zhang Yunming, vice-minister of the ministry, said China has the world's largest mobile broadband and optical fiber network, and the network quality has reached or even surpassed the levels of developed countries. 
5月17日，工信部副部长张云明在2022年世界电信和信息社会日大会上表示，目前我国建成5G基站近160万个，已建成全球规模最大的移动宽带和光纤网络，网络质量达到甚至优于世界发达国家水平。

Zhang said 5G has been applied to a wide range of sectors including transportation, medical care, education, culture and tourism, and the industrial internet has been applied in 45 categories of the national economy. The remarks were made at a forum held to celebrate World Telecommunications Day, which was Tuesday.
目前5G应用涵盖交通、医疗、教育、文旅等诸多生活领域。工业互联网已应用于45个国民经济大类。

Shanghai cuts off community transmission of COVID-19

All 16 districts in Shanghai have recorded zero COVID-19 community transmissions outside quarantine areas, said Zhao Dandan, deputy director of the Shanghai Health Commission, at a press conference Tuesday. 
5月17日召开的上海市新冠肺炎疫情防控新闻发布会上，上海市卫生健康委副主任赵丹丹表示，上海全市16个区都已实现社会面清零。

To promote a safe and steady resumption of production amid pandemic prevention and control, Shanghai set up a coordination mechanism for major projects, said Zhu Jianhao, deputy director of the Shanghai housing and urban-rural development committee. The first batch of 16 projects have resumed work, and eight are preparing to follow suit, Zhu said. The second "white list" for resumption of work is being drawn up.
上海市住房城乡建设管理委副主任朱剑豪介绍，为统筹疫情防控和安全稳定复工复产，本市建立了市级重大工程复工复产协调机制，首批纳入“白名单”的24个重大工程项目中，16个项目已实现复工，还有8个项目正在进行复工准备。上海市住建委正在审核第二批“白名单”。

China brings 581km of new rail lines into service in first 4 months

China put 581 kilometers of new railway lines into service in the first four months of the year, including 358km of high-speed railway, data from the China State Railway Group showed. The country saw 157.46 billion yuan in fixed asset railway investment during the period, up 0.6 percent year-on-year, according to the group.

While coordinating their work with epidemic control efforts, China's rail builders have actively promoted the implementation of rail projects among the 102 major projects listed in the country's 14th Five-Year Plan, such as the building of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and capacity expansion of the China-Europe freight trains. China's rail cargo volume rose 10.1 percent year-on-year and hit a record high of 330 million tons in April.

McDonald's confirms it will exit Russia
麦当劳宣布退出俄罗斯

American fast-food giant McDonald's will exit the Russian market and sell its business, the company said Monday in a statement. McDonald's said it is looking to sell its restaurants to a local buyer and would not allow the stores to use its name, logo, branding or menu, retaining its trademark in Russia. 
当地时间5月16日，美国餐饮连锁公司麦当劳宣布，该公司最终决定退出俄罗斯市场并出售其业务。麦当劳在声明中称，该公司“正在寻求将其在俄罗斯的全部麦当劳餐厅一同出售给当地买家”，并补充说，尽管该公司将继续在俄罗斯保留商标，但现有门店将不再使用麦当劳的名称、标识、品牌和菜单。

McDonald's in March closed all of its restaurants in the country. The company said it would ensure its 62,000 employees in Russia continue to be paid until the close of any transaction. Starbucks and Coca-Cola have also paused operations in Russia.
今年3月，麦当劳宣布关闭其在俄罗斯境内的所有门店，但是会继续支付6.2万名员工工资，直至出售交易完成。星巴克公司和可口可乐公司也已宣布暂停在俄罗斯的业务。
