Snail—The New Student

"Class, we will have a new student today," said Mrs. Harvey.
哈维老师说：“同学们，今天我们会迎来一位新同学”。
"Will someone pick her up from the principal's office?"
“谁愿意去校长办公室把她带过来啊？”
"I can do it," said Snail." Well, all right, Snail," said Mrs. Harvey.
“我可以，“蜗牛说道。”好的，蜗牛你去吧，“哈维老师说。
"But this time please hurry."
“但是，这次要快一点。”
"I will be back in a flash," said Snail.
“我马上就回来，”蜗牛说。
Snail hurried down the long hallway.
蜗牛很快穿过走廊。
"I will show Mrs. Harvey she can count on me, " he said.
“我要向哈维老师证明，她可以相信我，”蜗牛自言自语道。
Snail came to the principal's office. There was a fire extinguisher by the door.
蜗牛来到校长办公室。门边放着一个灭火器。
"This should not be here," he said. "I will put it back."
“这个东西不应该放在这儿，”蜗牛说。“我得把它放到正确的位置上。”
Snail pushed.
蜗牛推了推灭火器。
Suddenly he heard Hisssss!
突然他听到“嘶嘶”的声音。
He grabbed the fire extinguisher.
他抓住灭火器。
It started to shake, rattle, and roll.
灭火器开始摇晃，发出咔嗒咔嗒的声音，滚了起来。
"Yikes!” Snail cried." It's blasting off!"
“呀！”蜗牛说，“灭火器飞起来了！”
"Look at me! I am in outer space," Snail shouted.
“看我！我飞到了外太空。”蜗牛大喊道。
Snail landed on another planet.
蜗牛降落到了另一个星球上。
"Is anybody home?" Snail called.
“有人在家吗？”蜗牛喊道。
Suddenly he saw something move.
突然他看到有个东西在动。
"Monsters!" cried Snail.
“妖怪！”蜗牛大叫起来。
Then he looked closer.
然后他凑近看了看。
"You are not monsters," said Snail. "You look like me!"
“你不是妖怪，”蜗牛说，“你长得和我很像！”
"Welcome to our planet," said one of them. "My name is Edie."
“欢迎来到我们的星球，”有人说到，“我叫伊迪。”
"Come and join our party," said Edie.
伊迪说：“来加入我们的派对吧。”
"Nice cake," said Snail.
“蛋糕真不错。”蜗牛说。
"Have a piece," said Edie.
“吃一块吧。”伊迪说。
"Thank you very much," Snail said, "but I must get back to my classroom."
“非常感谢。”蜗牛道谢，“但是我得回教室了。”
"I can take you in our rocket," said Edie.
“我可以用火箭送你。”伊迪说。
"Great!" said Snail.
“太好了！”蜗牛欢呼道。
Edie and Snail took off for Earth.
伊迪和蜗牛出发飞向地球。
"This is my school," said Snail. "We must hurry. Mrs. Harvey is waiting for us."
“这就是我的学校了。”蜗牛说。“我们必须快点才行。哈维老师等着我们呢。”
"Snail, where have you been?" asked Mrs. Harvey.
“蜗牛，你去哪儿了？”哈维老师问。
"You could have gone around the world in the time you were away!"
“刚刚你准是环游世界去了！”
"Well," said Snail, "the fire extinguisher took off, and I went into space and ..."
“额。”蜗牛说，“灭火器飞起来了，我到了太空，然后……”
"Now, Snail, please sit down, " Mrs. Harvey said, " and stop making up stories."
“蜗牛，现在给我坐下。”哈维老师命令道。“别再编故事了。”
Mrs. Harvey looked at Edie.
哈维老师看着伊迪。
"You must be the new student," she said.
说道：“你一定是那位新同学了。”
"Her name is Edie," said Snail. "She comes from another planet."
“她叫伊迪。”蜗牛说。“她来自另一个星球。”
"That is enough, Snail," said Mrs. Harvey. "Welcome to the class, Edie.
You may take your seat next to Snail."
“够了，蜗牛。”哈维老师说。“伊迪，欢迎来到我们班。你可以坐在蜗牛旁边。”
Then Mrs. Harvey looked closer.
然后哈维老师凑近看了看。
"Edie is floating!" she said to herself.
“伊迪飘起来了！”她自言自语道。
“Snail?" Mrs. Harvey asked.
“蜗牛？”哈维老师问道。
"Yes, Mrs. Harvey", said Snail.
“是，哈维老师。”蜗牛回答道。
"Oh, never mind, Snail," said Mrs. Harvey. "Never mind."
“没什么，蜗牛。”哈维老师说。“没什么。”
