Chinese electric vehicles made their Paris Motor Show debut recently. The Paris Motor Show showcased electric vehicles from Renault, Stellantis, as well as China's biggest electric car maker, BYD Co. The Paris Motor Show is held every two years, and was last staged four years ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Christophe-Bourroux, an automotive specialist for RTL Radio, Chinese electric vehicles did not appear at car shows in Europe four years ago, but are now “making a great breakthrough” and are “undoubtedly ahead on electrification”.

A football-loving penguin was recently unveiled as the official mascot of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. Streetwise and confident, Tazuni stands out from the crowd thanks to her signature blue tuft of hair.

近日，国际足球联合会（FIFA, Fédération Internationale de Football Association）公布2023年女足世界杯吉祥物——一只喜欢足球的企鹅。塔祖尼机敏而自信，一撮新潮的蓝发是她的标志。

Tazuni is a penguin based on the Eudyptula minor species which is endemic to New Zealand and Australia. The name Tazuni is a fusion of her home – the Tasman Sea – and “unity”, a key value of the event which will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023.

塔祖尼的形象基础来源于仅分布在澳大利亚和新西兰的一种小型企鹅，当地人通常称之为小蓝企鹅或仙女企鹅。塔祖尼的名字由英文“塔斯曼海”（the Tasman Sea）和“团结”（unity）两个词合并而成，寓意澳大利亚和新西兰共同举办2023年女足世界杯。

“Tazuni stands for everything that makes the Women’s World Cup unique, and her story will resonate with millions of young fans around the world,” FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said. “We look forward to her playing a starring role in the tournament and helping to inspire the next generation as we continue to take women’s football and the FIFA Women’s World Cup beyond greatness”.

According to FIFA, Tazuni is a 15-year-old midfielder. Her football dreams came true one evening when she gazed up to see fireworks explode overhead coming from a nearby stadium. The kids on the beach handed her a personalized football kit, and she confidently strode into the stadium to showcase her talents.

根据国际足联公布，塔祖尼是一位15岁的中场球员。一天晚上，她抬头看向附近体育场处绽放的烟花，心中的足球梦也随之绽放。她接过沙滩上的孩子们给她的一套独一无二的运动装备，便自信地走进体育场展现她的足球天赋。

A FIFA's Chief Women's Football Officer, said: "Tazuni is the perfect mascot for this tournament, exemplifying all that is positive about the biggest women's football event ever staged, and our sport-obsessed host nations who are ready to welcome the world".

Titan Arums produced fruit for the first time in China

Recently, the bright red fruit of two Titan Arums have ripened in China National Botanical Garden in China's capital Beijing. Records show that this is the first time that the plants have produced fruit under cultivation in a botanical garden across China. 

最近，国家植物园又传来好消息：国家植物园（北园）展览温室两株火红的巨魔芋结实。记录显示，这是该植物国内首次实现首次巨魔芋结实。

Titan Arum is also known as the "corpse flower" because of its stinky corpse-like smell to attract pollinators when it's in full bloom. The species is endemic to the rainforests on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, but has been introduced to botanical gardens worldwide.

巨魔芋是印度尼西亚苏门答腊岛热带雨林的特有物种，被引入世界各地的植物园。巨魔芋不吃人，之所以被传说成“食人花”，主要是因为它的生物学特性。

To see a Titan Arums flowering is extremely difficult as it happens only 3-4 times in a lifetime, and each time it blooms for no more than 2 days. The world's artificial cultivation of flowering times has only succeeded a little more than 100 times. 

巨魔芋开花极难，一生只开3-4次花，每次开花不超过2天，全世界人工栽培开花次数仅100余次。

Unlike other plants, the Titan Arum flowers occasionally and its florescence is unpredictable, which makes it even more difficult to harvest its fruits. The species is listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
