The 5th China International Import Expo closed today without any security problems or coronavirus infections. Lei Shuran has more.

今天（11/10），第五届进博会圆满落幕，未发生任何安全问题和感染病例。记者雷舒然为您带来更多详细报道。

A total of 145 countries, regions and international organizations took part in this year’s CIIE. More than 2,800 exhibitors from 127 countries and regions attended the import expo. They showcased 438 new products, technologies and services.

本届进博会共有145各个国家、地区和国际组织参展。来自127个国家和地区的2800多家企业参加进博会，展示了438项新产品、新技术、新服务。

On a yearly basis, intended deals signed at the 5th CIIE increased 3.9 percent compared to the 73.52 billion US dollars in contracts inked last year. The event was successful thanks to everyone’s efforts.

本届进博会，按一年计，意向成交金额735.2亿美元，比上届增长3.9%。在各方共同努力下，第五届进博会实现了成功、精彩、富有成效的预期目标。

368 companies in the smart industry and information technology fields used the CIIE website to participate, while 69 countries and international organizations participated in the online country exhibition, up 13 percent compared to the previous year. The webpages attracted 59 million visits. This year, 284 Fortune Global 500 or industry leaders showcased a range of products and services. Nearly 90 percent of them were repeat participants. Shanghai Trading Group organized 23 signing ceremonies【典礼】 and trade negotiations.

368家智能行业和信息技术行业的公司通过进博会官网参与，69个国家和国际组织通过在线国家展览参与，高于去年13%的比例。进博会官网获5900万次浏览。今年，有284家世界500强和行业龙头企业参加，展示各项产品和服务。其中近90%的企业之前就参加过进博会。上海交易团举办了23场采购签约和交易洽谈活动。

Shanghai Trading Group signed deals worth a total of 9.02 billion US dollars, ranking first among all regional trading groups.

2.CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR TAKES PLACE IN SHANGHAI

ART021 opened today while West Bund Art & Design will begin tomorrow. The two art fairs are part of the 4th Shanghai International Artwork Trade Week. Zhang Yue has more.

今天（11/10），第四届上海国际艺术品交易周开幕。其中，第十届上海廿一当代艺术博览会开幕，西岸艺术与设计博览会将在明天（11/11）揭幕。记者张乐为您带来更多详细报道。

The ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair was held today at Shanghai Exhibition Center. More than 10,000 contemporary artworks from 134 art galleries in 36 cities and 19 countries were available to purchase. Hong Kong-based David Zwirner Gallery has been at each ART021 fair since its debut【首次亮相】 in 2013. Half of its artworks were sold today.

今天（11/10），第十届上海廿一当代艺术博览会在上海开幕，云集了来自19个国家、36个城市的134家画廊的1万多幅作品。自2013年起，香港卓纳画廊每一届都有参展。开展当日，画廊半数的艺术品都找到了卖家。

The 9th West Bund Art & Design Fair is being staged at the West Bund Art Center, with participants from over 100 art galleries from 43 cities in 19 countries. It’s one of the largest events of its kind in Asia.

第九届西岸艺术与设计博览会在西岸艺术中心举行，来自19个国家、43个城市的100多家画廊参展。这是亚洲同类博览会中规模最大的活动之一。

3.META ANNOUNCES IT WILL CUT 11,000 JOBS

Meta announced plans to cut more than 11,000 jobs on Wednesday, that’s about 13% of its workforce. The mass layoff is the first in the firm’s 18-year history. Lei Shuran has more.

The tech industry has faced a tough year. Tens of thousands of US tech workers have lost their jobs in mass layoffs this year, due to reasons including cost cutting and macroeconomic challenges. Meta was valued at more than 1 trillion U.S. dollars at the beginning of the year, but currently it’s only worth 256 billion, a loss of over 70% as the company’s expenses jumped 19 percent year on year in the third quarter to 22.1 billion dollars. Some of Meta’s troubles have been self-inflicted, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has placed a very expensive bet on the metaverse. In addition to this year’s spending, as much as 100 billion US dollars in expenses is in the forecast for Meta next year. Many investors have grown frustrated with the investments, which Zuckerberg says could take a decade to pay off.
