起源传说霸王龙
王缙自幼好学，与兄王维齐名。进士及第后，授侍御史。在“安史之乱”时，王缙协助名将李光弼成功守卫太原，颇有功绩和谋略，因此升任刑部侍郎，并曾两次出任宰相。历任太原尹、河南副元帅、河东节度使等军事要职。晚年因附和权臣元载而被贬为括州（今浙江丽水市）刺史，后又被召回，任太子宾客、分司东都，直至去世。
