国台办：希望民进党当局尽快取消对“小三通”的人为限制

A spokesperson from the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council emphasized the importance of cross-strait communications, saying there is no reason for Taiwan authorities not to resume direct flights after the mainland changed its COVID policies. Song Wenjing has more.

国务院台湾事务办公室发言人朱凤莲表示，对于恢复两岸直航航点，大陆已经做好相关准备，希望台湾方面顺应民意，不要再以疫情为借口阻碍两岸交流交往。记者宋文婧带来更多详细报道。

So far, 16 cities on the mainland are prepared for direct flights to the island. The direct links, also known as the“mini-three links”, were partially resumed on January 7th, allowing residents in Kinmen and Matsu and their spouses【配偶】on the mainland to travel across the Taiwan Strait on ferries. As of yesterday, 78 ferries had traveled between Taiwan and the mainland, carrying more than 5,000 passengers.

到目前为止，大陆方面正在准备16个两岸直航航点。大陆与台湾金门、马祖间的通商、通航和通邮，也就是“小三通”，于1月7日起恢复有限度的营运，方便金马地区的同胞返乡过年、与家人团圆。截至2月6日，两岸船舶共往返78班，载客超过5000人次。

Although DPP authorities agreed to extend the“mini-three links” plan on a regular basis, our compatriots【同胞】who are not from Kinmen and Matsu are not covered by the plan. So the“mini-three links” doesn’t facilitate cross-strait exchanges in the way intended. No wonder people on the island have criticized the DPP for ignoring public opinion and being insincere.

民进党当局虽同意所谓“小三通”专案常态化实施，但继续将金马地区以外的同胞排除在外，让“小三通”难以发挥在两岸交流往来中应有的作用，难怪岛内民众批评他们罔顾民意，“没有诚意”。

Zhu said China hopes DPP authorities put the welfare of the people first, remove all restrictions as soon as possible, and realize the full resumption【恢复】of the“mini-three links”.

朱凤莲表示，大陆方面希望民进党当局以民众福祉为重，尽快取消所有人为限制，实现“小三通”全面复航。

中国救援队抵达土耳其开展救援行动

The death toll from massive earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria has risen to more than 11,000. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at least 8,574 people had been killed in his country, while the number of injured had risen toover30,000. In Syria, the death toll rose to more than 2,500. Stephen Rancourt has the story.

土耳其叙利亚强震目前造成的死亡人数已经上升到11000多人。土耳其总统雷杰普·塔伊普·埃尔多安（Recep Tayyip Erdogan）称，土耳其至少有8574人死亡，受伤人数也已超过3万（截至目前接近5万）。在叙利亚，死亡人数上升到2500多人。记者Stephen Rancourt带来更多详细报道。

The Turkish defense minister said the country’s military was fully mobilized for earthquake efforts. More than 60,000 rescuers have been dispatched to the affected areas. Erdogan yesterday declared a three-month state of emergency in 10 southeastern provinces hit by the earthquakes.

土耳其国防部长表示，军方已全面动员应对震后救灾。超过6万名救援人员已被派往灾区。埃尔多安7日宣布，受地震影响的东南部10个省份将实施紧急状态，为期三个月。

The gravity of the earthquake disaster we are experiencing makes it imperative for us to undertake extraordinary measures. We declare the 10 provinces beset by the earthquakes to be a disaster area affecting general life and it will last three months.

According to the World Health Organization, the earthquakes may have affected more than 23 million people in Turkey and Syria. Multiple countries have pledged assistance to Turkey and Syria. Rescue teams from China and Russia have brought rescue equipment and supplies to the affected areas. Rescuers from the United States will arrive today. In addition, rescuers and medical equipment from Germany, France,and Iran will arrive in the next few days. The earthquakes also devastated【毁坏】parts of neighboring Syria. The Syrian branch of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies estimates that at least 4,000 families have lost their homes and 50,000 families are in need of immediate support. A Syrian official has called on the United States and the European Union to lift economic sanctions imposed on Syria, saying they severely hamper relief work in quake-stricken areas of the country.

An 82-member Chinese team arrived in Turkey today to assist in rescue efforts in the quake-hit areas. Lei Shuran has the story.

The plane arrived at Adana Airport, which is about 400 kilometers from Gaziantep province, one of the worst affected areas. The city of Adana has become a major staging area for international rescue teams. At least eight teams from Europe and Asia were already there when the Chinese team arrived. The team will be assigned specific missions based on current progress. They plan to survey the site of the mission and choose safe locations to set up camps. Civilian rescue teams including Ramunion Rescue Team from Zhejiang, Blue Sky Rescue Team and Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation have also set off to disaster-hit areas. Last night, two Blue Sky Rescue Team members took a train from Shanghai to Wuhan, where they met up with 60 others.

Both Gu and Pang are part-time rescuers who speak English and Spanish. The Shanghai branch of the Blue Sky Rescue Team will send more than 300 rescuers to Turkey. They will be divided into search and rescue, demolition, communications, and medical teams.

A group of people with hearing impairments did a physical examination in order to apply for a driver’s license in Shanghai today. Tang Xiaofan has more.

今天（02/08），首批报名驾考的听障人士来到医院进行体检。记者唐晓帆带来更多详细报道。

6 people with hearing impairments came to Jiading TCM hospital this afternoon to do a physical for a driver’s license with the help of sign-language interpreters. Besides regular tests for eyesight, color vision and the body, they also needed to take a special hearing test.

下午，6名听障人士来到嘉定区中医医院，在手语志愿者的陪同下进行体检。除了视力、辨色、四肢检查等常规项目测试，他们还需额外进行听力测试。

In the check-up room, Wu Fei who is hearing impaired【受损的】took the test with a hearing-aid. She needs to point to where she thinks the sound is coming from.

After they put on their hearing-aid, we will make a sound with a tuning fork, 50 centimeters away from the ear. As long as they can identify the correct direction, they can pass the test and apply for a driver’s license for C1 and C2 small-sized vehicles.

佩戴听力设备以后，我们音叉距他耳朵50厘米的时候，如果我们发出一个声音，他只要能辨别声源方向，就可以申请C1、C2小型驾照。

When I was a student, it was hard to imagine people with a hearing impairment like mine could learn to drive a car. The first thing I want to do after I pass the driving test, is to buy a car and drive my parents to the suburbs or other cities.

在我读书的时候是不敢想象的，就是我们聋人可以学车。（学成后）我第一件事情就想买车，然后带着父母去郊区或者是外地旅游。

Jiading TCM hospital is the only hospital in Shanghai which has driver’s physical exams service for the hearing impaired. Shanghai has over 80,000 people with hearing and speech disabilities, hundreds of them have expressed the desire to drive. Shanghai Anting Driver Training school is the only place in the city where people with a hearing impairment can learn to drive.

嘉定区中医医院，是目前上海唯一一家听力残疾人驾考体检医院。上海有8万多名持证听力言语残疾人，其中有数百名听力残疾人有迫切驾车愿望。上海安亭驾校目前是本市唯一一所为听障学员提供培训的驾校。
