Story1-1

 In2010 a 17 year old boy named Michael is devastated by the death of his father.This family was very close, and they now had to come to terms with the factthat their father, their husband, was no longer with them. This was especiallydifficult because one of the things the family would do together was spend timeat a cabin that the family owned. Eventually they decided that they were goingto sell the cabin, and Michael was very upset.  He felt that before theyactually sell it he could spend some time there, paying his respects to hisfather, and have one more opportunity to spend some time in the cabin. His mom agreed and told him to take as many days as he wanted enjoy the cabinbefore it’s sold. So Michael loads up his car, he goes out he buys some snacksand drinks and heads up to the cabin with the family dog. The dog’s name wasMidnight. His plan was just to go up to the cabin and try to enjoy being in thespace one last time and build one last positive memory before it was forevergone from their family.

The cabin was two stories tall and it was built into a mountain, so the back half of the cabin was settled into the mountain so there were no windows save a little sliver of window that fed into the bathroom. The front of the cabin was a beautiful two stories with windows on the second floor that shone into the master bedroom. On the 2nd floor in the bedroom there was a walk out balcony. The cabin was built in an area that was heavily forested, so it was surrounded by trees. When you looked out the beautiful windows all you could see was

forest. One of the trees in front of the cabin was a huge pine tree with a very large branch parallel to the ground. This beautiful branch looked perfect for a whole bunch of people to sit on it, but it was 20 feet above the ground and there wasn't any way to climb up to it. Because the branch looks like a bench for people to sit on, the family called it the sitting tree. If someone could actually climb the sitting tree, the high branch allowed for a perfect view intothe second story windows of the cabin. 

       小木屋有两层楼高，依山而建，所以小木屋的后半部分嵌入山中，没有主窗，只有一小片通向浴室的窄窗。小木屋的前半部分是一座漂亮的两层楼，二楼的窗户可以让让光线照进主卧室。在卧室的二楼，有一个阳台。小屋建在森林茂密的地区，所以周围都是树木。当从这些漂亮的窗户向外看时，你所能看到的只是森林。小屋前有一棵巨大的松树，树枝很大，与地面平行。这个漂亮的树枝看起来非常适合一大群人坐在上面，但它离地面 20 英尺，没有任何办法爬上去。因树枝形似供人坐的板凳，故家人称其为坐树。如果有人真的能爬上那棵坐着的树，那么高高的树枝可以完美地看到小屋二楼的窗户。

When Michael gets to the cabin he goes inside and puts his drinks and snacks away. He hooks up his PlayStation to the TV and has a great time as his dog, Midnight, is roaming around enjoying being at the cabin. Over the course of the first two days that he was there it was everything he hoped it would be. It was it was like a bonding experience with his father one last time. It was a peaceful time and he was happy to be there and he was just enjoying himself eating snacks and playing video games. For a couple of days he left a couple times togo snowboarding too but on the third day that he was there things started to get pretty weird. 

      迈克尔到达小屋，走了进去，把饮料和零食放好。将PlayStation游戏机连接到电视上。他的狗 Midnight 在小屋里四处游荡，迈克尔玩得很开心。之后的头两天里，一切都如他所愿。就像最后一次与他父亲的亲密经历。那是一段平静的时光，他很高兴在那里，他只是享受着吃零食和玩电子游戏的乐趣。前俩天他也离开了几俩次去滑雪，但在那里的第三天，事情开始变得很奇怪。

On the third day when he got up in the morning it had snowed dramatically the night before. There was couple of feet of snow on the ground and it was still snowing pretty heavily. Michael looks at the snow and decided that he didn’t feel like brushing off his car and trying to go to the store. Instead he decides that he’s just going to stay in for the day. He was content to play more video games, eat some more snacks and hang out with his dog, Midnight. 

       第三天早上起床的时候，发现前一天晚上下了一场大雪。地上有几英尺厚的雪，而且大雪仍在下着。迈克尔看着雪，决定他不想清理车上面的积雪，也不想去商店。相反，他决定在屋子里待一天。玩电子游戏，吃零食，和他的狗午夜在一起，让他很满足。

That night Michael stayed up late playing video games with his dog sleeping next to his chair. When he's tired and he wants to go to bed he pulls all the curtains closed downstairs, makes sure that all the windows and doors are locked, and heads upstairs to the bedroom. He gets in bed with all the the lights off, and the dog climbs into bed with him. He was almost asleep when Midnight suddenly jumps up to stand on the bed and looks at the stairs leading downstairs to the front door. The dog’s ears are perked up like it's heard something. Midnightoften heard the wild animals around the cabin, so when she reacted this way at first Michael wasn’t concerned. But then Midnight jumped off the bed and sprints downstairs. Michael sits upright in bed. Now he's a little bit worried. As he listens he hears Midnight pacing around downstairs, back and forth back and forth back and forth, indicating very strongly that the dog wants to go outside. Even though he's feeling a little bit unnerved by Midnight’s actionshe decides to go down and to find out what happened to Midnight.

 那天晚上迈克尔熬夜玩电子游戏，狗就睡在他的椅子旁边。当他累了想上床睡觉时，迈克尔拉上楼下所有的窗帘，确保所有的门窗都锁上，然后上楼去卧室。他上床睡觉时将所有的灯都关了，狗也和他一起爬上了床。就在他几乎睡着了，午夜突然跳起来站在床上，看着通往楼下前门的楼梯。狗的耳朵竖了起来，好像听到了什么。午夜经常听到小屋周围有野生动物的声音，所以当她这样反应时，迈克尔起初并不担心。但随后午夜从床上跳下来，冲下楼去。迈克尔笔直地坐在床上。现在他有点担心了。他倾听时，午夜在楼下来回踱步，来回来去地走来走去，非常强烈地表明这条狗想出去。尽管午夜的行为让他感到有点不安，但迈克尔还是决定下去看看午夜发生了什么事。

Hefinds Midnight by the door, ears perked up and very eager to go outside.Michael thinks to himself, maybe she just needs to go to the bathroom so heopens the door with Midnight and he goes outside with her. He expects his dogto pee but instead Midnight is stalking around the front of the cabin andlooking out across the clearing towards the sitting tree. Then Midnight stopsand looks at something very intently as if she had spotted an animal orsomething in the woods. Michael watches his dog behavior and he's starting tofeel really uncomfortable. He looks around feeling a little bit concerned nowand he's sensing that Midnight is going at some point to try to chase whatevershe sees in the woods. To keep her from doing it he grabs Midnight, drags herback in the cabin and shuts the door and locks it. He takes one last look outthe window. It’s very dark, the moon isn’t even shining on the snow, and hefeels a horrible, creepy feeling. Somehow, he feels like he’s being watched.

       他在门口发现午夜，竖起耳朵，非常想出去。迈克尔心里想，也许她只是需要去洗手间，所以他打开门，和午夜一起出去。他本以为狗会撒尿，但午夜却在小屋前面徘徊，并越过空地望向那棵坐树。然后午夜停下来，非常专注地看着某样东西，好像她在树林里发现了一只动物或什么东西一样。 Michael 看着狗的举动，感到非常不舒服。他环顾四周，开始有点担心，感觉到午夜正尝试追逐在树林里看到的东西。为了阻止她这样做，他抓住了午夜，将她拖回了小屋，关上门并上了锁。他最后看了一眼窗外，天很黑，月亮甚至没有照在雪地上，他有种可怕的、毛骨悚然的感觉。不知何故，他觉得自己被监视了。

To make himself feel better Michael checks all the doors and windows to make sure they’re still locked and goes back upstairs with Midnight. Midnight did not want to go back upstairs and he had to practically drag her back upstairs. When they did get back to the bedroom Midnight refused to get in bed and instead stood next to the bed looking at the stairs. Sometimes she looks back at him and then down at the stairs again, clearly wanting to go back outside. Michael lays in bed, fully aware of the fact that his dog is very much on edge but he tries to fall back sleep and to convince himself that nothing weird is going on. After about 30 minutes of being unsuccessful at falling asleep as he's laying there in the silence and all of a sudden he hears footsteps on his roof. 

      为了让自己感觉好些，迈克尔检查了所有的门窗，确保它们仍然锁着，然后和午夜一起回到楼上。午夜不想再上楼，他几乎是拖着午夜上楼。当他们回到卧室时，午夜拒绝上床，而是站在床边看着楼梯。有时午夜会回头看看他，然后又走下楼梯，显然是想回到外面去。迈克尔躺在床上，完全意识到他的狗非常紧张这一事实，但他试图重新入睡并说服自己没有发生任何奇怪的事情。大约 30 分钟后，他静静地躺在那里，未能入睡，突然间，他听到屋顶上有脚步声。
