On Thursday, a global publicity campaign launched called ‘Hello Hong Kong’; it launched with dancers and flashing neon lights in the city’s main convention center beside its famous harbor. The city’s leader John Lee announced the giveaway at the launch of the campaign, and he highlighted that a number of events will happen, including the Rugby Sevens and the city marathon.
The government is seeking to revive the economy and repair Hong Kong’s global image after 2019’s violent protests and three years of self-imposed isolation during the pandemic. The giveaway will begin at the start of March and will last six months. People have different ways to win tickets, such as a lottery and two-for-one purchases.
Hong Kong received around 605,000 visitors last year as the city slowly dropped its COVID-19 restrictions, compared to almost 56 million before the pandemic in 2019.
