Profligate (PRAHF-li-git) means extremely prodigal or spendthrift; itrefers specifically to a person who spends money with reckless abandon andlives a life shamelessly devoted to pleasure: a profligate Hollywood moviestar who squandered his fortune in exclusive nightclubs and casinos.
Spendthrift means wasteful, spending extravagantly: “The taxpayers want amore efficient and less spendthrift government.”
