Part 3

Do youthink parents should give their children advice?

In my point of view, parents shoulddefinitely provide guidance and advice to their children. It's anessentialaspectof parenting and plays avital role in a child's developmentdue to the fact that parents have awealth of life experience, and theycan offervaluable insightsthat can help their children make informeddecisions. Moreover, parents have a responsibility to ensure the safety oftheir children. Providing advice on matters related to safety, such as avoidingdangerous situations or interacting with strangers, is essential to protecttheir physical well-being. They act as ashieldagainst potential harmby impartingcrucial adviceto their children. Otherwise, parents mightexperience feelings of guilt if their childrengo astrayif they give alack of guidance to them.

Exam tips:

l This question seeks your opinion on whether you agree ordisagree. Give your opinion immediately. Then, provide at least twoexplanations to back up your primary point. You might offer an example or thenegative outcome as a contrasting part by expanding your response.

Shouldteachers give students advice?

Of course. I firmly believe that teachersshould provide advice to their students. Teachers play aintegral partin shaping students not only academically but also as individuals. Not tomention, teachers can offer career guidance, help students develop essentiallife skills, and offer emotional support when needed. In today'sintricateworld, students benefit from having a trusted adult who can give advice onsurpassingthe challenges they face. However, it's crucial that this advice is given in abalanced manner. Teachers should encouragecritical thinkingandindependence rather than dictating every decision. In a word, teachers shouldcertainly give students advice as it can be instrumental in their personal andacademic development.

Exam tips:

l This is another type of yes or no questioning. As is usual, express your viewpoint clearly and then present at least two reasons to back itup. To delve deeper into the question, each justification must be expanded withmore details. To conclude, try to draw a conclusion or provide a comparisonthought about the outcome.

Do youthink it is necessary for us to listen to friends’ advice?

Without a doubt, yes! Friends often havedifferent perspectives and experiences, which can providevaluable insightsand alternativeviewpoints.Their advice can help us see a situationfrom angles we might not have considered. You know, the collective wisdom of agroup of friends can be powerful. When multiple friends provide advice, we canevaluate a range of options and make morewell-roundeddecisions.Furthermore, friends can provideunbiasedinput. Unlike family memberswho may have their ownvestedinterests, friends can often offerobjective advice that is solely in our best interest. So, listening to theirguidance can also help us navigate thecomplexitiesof life.

Exam tips:

l It is another yes or no question. You have to provide youropinion whether it is necessary or not. Give at least two explanations. You canthink of your personal experience when receiving or refusing your friend’sadvice to improve your fluency. However, make it general by using we or usinstead of I.

How togive young people and old people advice?

One hand, when advising young people, it'scrucialtoengagethem in a way that acknowledges their youthfulenthusiasm and thirst for knowledge. Encouraging self-discovery can beparticularly effective. For instance, we can use relatable examples such assharing stories or examples from our own youth or from success and hardships. This not only encourages them to reflect on theiraspirationsbut alsoallows me totailorour advice to their individual interests. As forolder people, it's essential to approach the conversation with respect fortheir life experiences and the wisdom they'veaccruedover the years. Amore supportive andempathetictone can be beneficial. In addition, offer practical solutions thatalignwith their life circumstances.Consider their health, financial situation, and other factors that mayinfluence their choices.

Exam tips:

l This is a "how" question, so you must present astrategy for giving guidance to both young and adult persons. Separate yourideas into two groups to organize them. You can begin by explaining how to givecounsel to young people and then present instances to demonstrate your point.Following that, you must discuss how to give counsel to elderly people andconsider how you would advise your elders to improve your fluency. However, provide universal responses rather than personal ones.

Whatare the areas in which people are more or less willing to accept advice?

Well, the willingness to accept advicevaries across different aspects of life, influenced by factors such as personalpreferences, the source of advice, and the significance of the decision athand. For instance, matters of personal relationships, such as friendships andfamilydynamics, people may be less willing to acceptunsolicitedadvice. They often prefer to navigate these situations based on theirintuitionand emotions. Whilewell-meaning advicemay be appreciated, it cansometimes be met with resistance or perceived as interference. What’s more, acceptance of financial advice can vary widely. Some individuals actively seekfinancial advice and arereceptiveto professional recommendations formanaging their money and investments. Others may be less willing to acceptadvice due to personal financial philosophies orreluctanceto disclosetheir financial situations.

Exam tips:

l Take the important point "what are the areas," whichimplies you must list at least two areas where people are strongly opposed toreceiving assistance and why they accept it. You can discuss topics such asrelationships, money, and decision-making. When discussing one area, discusswhy they are willing and why they are not. Summarize your responses ifnecessary.

Haveyou ever received any advice from professional people, like a doctor, a lawyeror a teacher?

Well, I must admit that I haven't had theopportunity to personallyseek advicefrom professionals like doctors, lawyers, or teachers. However, I understand the importance of their guidance invarious aspects of life. For instance, individuals often turn to doctors formedical advice when they have health concerns. These healthcare professionalsoffer valuable insights into maintaining a healthy lifestyle and addressingspecific medical issues. Similarly, lawyers play a crucial role in providinglegal advice. Although I haven't directly benefited from guidance provided byexperts in thesedomains,I acknowledge thesubstantial impactthey have in assisting individuals in making knowledgeable choices andmaneuveringthroughdiverse facetsof life.

Exam tips:

l This is a personal type question. Hence, you must talk aboutyour experience. If you have an experience talk about it and what advice youget and the result. But if you don’t have the experience talk about the reasonwhy or you can just mention the purpose why people seek the professionalguidance.
