Lang Lang's 8 golden rules for learning to play the piano.

1. Take the plunge, regardless of age

I think the ideal age for learning the piano is from 2 to 100.

学习钢琴的理想年龄是2-100岁。

2. An hour a day, the right way

2. 正确方式是每天练习一小时。

In the very beginning, I think one hour would be actually good, and then you put around 20 minutes to the basic training, 20 minutes to play some small pieces, and then another 20 minutes try to and improvise something on the piano.

刚开始学的时候，一个小时就很好，头20分钟，做一些基本训练，中间20分钟，弹一些简单的曲子，最后20分钟，你可以自由发挥。

3. Get coordinated

The most difficult aspect for learning piano is that you need to be separated between the right hand and the left hand.

学习钢琴最难的一件事就是左右手独立弹奏。

Because this is how you train both sides of the brain.

因为你需要你训练左右脑分开思考。

After that it should be easier, with a lot of practice of course!

在这之后就简单些了，但你需要大量的练习！

4. Don't just practise alone

Playing duets or chamber music is the key to learn other instruments, so you have to work with singers to make the piano more like a singing, and have to work with string players, to work with woodwinds, brass, percussion, guitar, and then the music becomes much bigger.

演奏二重奏或室内乐是学习其他乐器的关键，所以你必须与歌手合作，使钢琴更像唱歌的乐器，你还必须与弦乐器手合作，与木管乐器、铜管乐器、打击乐器、吉他合作，然后音乐就变得宏大得多。

It's not enough to just typing the note, it's more like what you are you going to create, or recreate, after the notes already existed more than 200 years old, some of the pieces.

I think we always need to for every piano keep our passion and the flame for loving music always there.

And if your passion is gone then, well unfortunately everything is gone so that is the engine of success.

7. Look at the whole picture

For me, I think music is very visual.

It needs to be thinnking through a multimedia screen when we're performing.

Not only just looking at the music, but also to think about the what's the surrounding, and make some stories behind the theme, and how to get connectted to the main melodies, main voices of the piece, and also to draw a kind of a picture, the emotion picture of the piece.

不仅要看音乐，还要思考周围的环境，并在主题背后编一些故事，以及如何与主要旋律，作品的主要声音联系起来，像画一幅画一样，作品的情感画面。

So you need to find where is the top, where you need to give everything, the climax of the piece.

And so in a way you have to be very multifunctional.

8. Art and technique hand in hand

Music Education need to be balanced, and very academic.

Everything needs to be properly trained, and in the same time, every one of us should be an artist.

And the artistic training is more working with different people, talking to people, playing different objects, and learning different subjects.

I think that's another way of learning the arts, and then you train your professional technique.

So that's how the two worlds merge, and that is how music education should be.
