学位法明年起施行

Chinese lawmakers on Friday voted to adopt a law on academic degrees to optimize the awarding of such degrees. The law, which was passed at a session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the national legislature, will take effect on Jan 1, 2025.

4月26日，十四届全国人大常委会第九次会议表决通过《中华人民共和国学位法》，自2025年1月1日起施行。

The law, consisting of seven chapters, stipulates the qualifications, conditions, and procedures for conferring academic degrees, including bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees.

这部法律共7章，包括总则、学位工作体制、学位授予资格、学位授予条件、学位授予程序、学位质量保障、附则。

It distinguishes the granting conditions of academic and professional degrees. While academic degrees emphasize research abilities, professional ones highlight practical skills and allow students to demonstrate their professional competence through practical achievements, according to the law.

学位法从法律的角度规定了学术学位和专业学位两种类型，强调分类发展、分类培养，让学生通过实践成果来展示自己的专业能力。

The new legislation also clarifies the circumstances of rejecting or revoking academic degrees, including the malpractice of ghostwriting, plagiarism, and counterfeiting, and such offenses as enrolling under others' names and obtaining graduation certificates illegally.

新颁布的学位法还明确了拒绝或撤销学位的情况，包括代笔、抄袭、伪造等不当行为，以及以他人名义入学和非法获得毕业证书等违法行为。

The adoption of the law is expected to protect the interests of academic degree applicants better and ensure high-quality academic degree awarding, thus serving the building of a modern socialist country.

学位法的通过有望更好地保护学位申请人的利益，确保高质量的学位授予，从而服务于社会主义现代化国家的建设。

In recent days, the requirement from the School of Literature at South China Normal University for graduates to handwrite their graduation theses has sparked widespread attention and discussion. 

近日，网络和媒体发布有关华南师范大学文学院要求毕业生手抄毕业论文的消息，引发广泛关注和讨论。

South China Normal University responded to this issue on Friday, clarifying that the online rumor claiming that "handwriting theses are linked to teacher certification and student graduation" is untrue. Instead, it is simply a tradition of the School of Literature.

周五（4月26日），华南师范大学发布说明回应，澄清网上关于“手抄毕业论文与师范认证、教学评估绑定”等说法不实。相反，手抄本科毕业论文是该校文学院长期以来的传统之一。

The university emphasized that handwriting undergraduate theses is a long-standing practice within the School of Literature. According to relevant documents from superior departments, there are no regulations or requirements that bind the handwriting of undergraduate theses with teacher certification or student graduation.

华南师范大学在说明中强调，手抄本科毕业论文是该校文学院长期以来的传统之一。上级部门的相关文件等，均无将手抄本科毕业论文与师范认证、学生毕业绑定的规定和要求。

In response to student feedback and practical considerations, the School of Literature has optimized the process of handwriting graduation theses for graduates. 

学院根据同学们的意见，结合实际情况，对毕业生手抄毕业论文工作进行优化。

The adjustment is as follows: after successfully defending their theses, students can choose to submit fully handwritten theses or opt for handwritten "thesis titles, abstracts, table of contents, and acknowledgments." If individual students encounter difficulties, they can submit an application, and the school will address their concerns accordingly.

调整为：在论文答辩通过之后，同学们可提交手写论文，也可只提交手写“论文题目、摘要、目录、致谢”即可，若有个别同学确实存在困难，可提出申请，学院将专题研究予以答复。
