Alice couldn't help but notice the watch. "What a funny watch. It tells the day of the month but not what o'clock it is. How odd."

"Why should it?" muttered the Hatter. "Does your watch tell you the year?"

"Of course not," Alice replied. "But that's because it's the same year for a long time. It's easy to remember."

"Do you know the answer to the riddle yet?"asked the Hatter.

"No. I give up," said Alice. "What's the answer?"

"I have no idea," said the Hatter.

"Nor do I," said the March Hare.

Alice sighed. "I'd think you'd do something better with the time than waste it asking riddles that have no answers."

"If you knew Time as well as I do," said the Hatter,"you wouldn't talk about wasting it. It's him."
