千禧一代爱'朋友圈旅游'

While holidays for young people used to be about sun and alcohol, millennials are now choosing to travel depending on how Instagram-friendly a place is. 

过去年轻人度假时爱晒日光浴，再喝上几杯，现在的千禧一代则根据在Ins上的"上相"程度来选择旅游地。

The rise of the so-called "ego traveler" has seen travel companies come up with packages sold around getting the perfect snaps. 

随着所谓的"自我旅行者"日益增多，很多旅行社推出了以拍摄完美照片为卖点的旅行套餐。

US-based company Contiki, which offers holiday packages for 18-to 35- year-olds, has launched a new Snap Canada tour, promising travelers "endless Insta opportunities". 

美国康智奇旅行社的目标客户是18到35岁的游客，这家旅行社近日推出"拍摄加拿大之旅"，保证游客此行可以拍到"无数可以晒在Ins上的照片"。

Other travel companies are offering professional photographers to help visitors document their holiday. 

其他一些旅行社则配备了专业摄影师帮助游客用照片留下假日记录。

"Millennials are incredibly passionate about travel and have a desire for a social experience defined by spending time with other travelers or locals in an authentic and serendipitous way." Contiki's head of marketing, Anna Vine said. A travel expert explained, "Millenials want to have done things a little bit for the bragging rights and to share it on social media."

康智奇销售主管安娜瓦因表示，千禧一代十分热衷旅游，并且渴望获得真真切切且不经意间地与其他游客或当地人共度时光的社会体验。一位旅游专家解释说："千禧一代想做一些能够夸耀的事情，并且将其分享到社交媒体上。"

Netflix and Obamas sign deal

Barack and Michelle Obama will work in front of and behind the camera in a multi-year production deal with Netflix, in a unique deal announced on Monday. 

美国前总统巴拉克•奥巴马和前第一夫人米歇尔近日与网飞公司签署多年制作协议，参与节目台前幕后的制作工作。网飞公司21日公布了这份特别的协定。

The first package of content from the Obamas will appear in 2019 at the earliest, according to a person involved in the deal. 

参与该协议的消息人士透露称，首期奥巴马夫妇参与制作的节目最早将在2019年问世。

Netflix did not specify a timeline.  But in the announcement, the company said "the Obamas will produce a diverse mix of content, including the potential for scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries and features."

网飞公司并未详细说明时间进度，但该公司在公布协议时说："奥巴马夫妇将参与制作多类节目，其中可能包括剧本剧集、无剧本剧集、纪录剧集、纪录片和特别节目。"

Sometimes the former president and first lady will be on camera as hosts or moderators, the source said on condition of anonymity. In other cases they will stay behind the scenes as producers.

Using mobile phones after 10 pm can trigger depression and loneliness, a study has revealed.

People who spend the night checking social media, watching television or roaming the house are more likely to suffer from mood problems such as neuroticism and bipolar disorder, and rate themselves less happy and more lonely, the study said. 

研究称，那些熬夜逛社交媒体，看电视或在房间里踱步的人更容易出现神经质和躁郁症等情绪问题，并且认为自己不快乐、更孤独。

While researchers cannot prove disruption to the body clock causes these problems, they argue it is more evidence modern life is scrambling our natural rhythms, saying: "Daytime is time for activity and darkness is time for sleep."

Quantum dots kill cancer cells

Nanoparticles derived from tea leaves could be the key to a leap forward in treating lung cancer, scientists have discovered. 

科学家近日"意外"发现，从茶叶中提取的纳米颗粒可能是突破治疗肺癌的关键所在。

The joint Swansea University and Indian team was amazed to find the "quantum dots" they manufactured destroyed 80% of the lung cancer cells they were applied to. 

英国斯旺西大学和印度团队的联合小组惊讶地发现他们制出的"量子点"杀死了80%标记过的癌细胞。

Quantum dots are tiny nanoparticles. They can be made chemically, but this is complicated and expensive and has toxic side effects. 

量子点是极小的纳米颗粒，可用化学方法制成，但这种方法非常复杂且成本高昂，还伴有毒副作用。

The research team was exploring a non-toxic plant-based alternative method to produce the dots, using tea leaf extracts. 

因此，该研究团队利用茶叶提取物找到一种无毒、以植物为基础制造量子点的方法。

Dr Pitchaimuthu, lead researcher on the project, said harnessing the quantum dots' effect into a usable treatment on humans could still be some years off. 

项目牵头人Pichaimuthu博士表示，将量子点效应用于人体临床治疗可能仍需几年时间。

"We hope to start live laboratory trials shortly, with human clinical trials following in around two years if all goes well, so perhaps in a decade we could have a widely-available treatment," he said.

他表示希望能马上开始进行活体实验室试验，若一切顺利，约两年后将进行人体临床试验，这样也许十年内人们即可获得广泛治疗。
