A device used to increase the number of steps counted on smartphones has become popular, and tens of thousands of the devices have been sold on Chinese online sales platforms. By placing a smartphone on the swing-like trestle, the number of steps tracked by various apps can be increased by about 10,000 an hour.

The dream of boldly going where only a few have gone before has inspired hundreds to sign up with space tourism companies like Virgin Galactic. But NASA astronaut Anna Fisher, who made history by becoming the first mother in space, has warned many are unprepared for the rigors of spaceflight and the toll it will take on their bodies.
